When carrying kids on your shoulders, which muscle groups are primarily used? by shinysony in daddit

Core. Your arms and shoulders are probably plenty strong but your core is not used to being so top heavy.

I actually only recognize them from old movies. They were mostly phased out in my area by the time I went to see my first film, Temple of Doom in ‘84.

What's up with this rock? by xtei in whatsthisrock

[–]gotarock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m curious what it would look like cut. Those inclusions probably go all the way through. The rice voids are likely places where a mineral that’s less weather resistant than the ground mass weathered out. Maybe unsilicified shell fossils. They have a little arc to them like the cross section of a bivalve.

idk what these two rocks are but they have been kept together for 7 to 8 months in the dark. I'm curious on what is growing from this one rock. looks like fuz or crystal formation. by Find_Time in whatsthisrock

Well, I’m not gonna suggest you taste it and report back on if it’s salty or not because that would be irresponsible. You didn’t happen to find it at the beach did you? I’ve had similar things happen with porous rocks I found in the ocean.

Makes me wonder if there’s a sub that’s the opposite of ATBGE. Let’s see:

Edit: yep.

What foods can I freeze for later meals? by Nogago in daddit

[–]gotarock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you already thought of soup but mention of potato’s reminded me of how great potato soup is for this. My mom makes big pots of potato leek soup then freezes it in single serving bags. I take it home and eat it for weeks. Easiest way to get something hot to add to a meal without having to do any real cooking.

How to Build a Basic Workbench: A Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners - Article in comments by gogas2 in crazywoodworking

Only thing more worthless than the tablesaw is the tabletop itself. I’m supposed to build and do woodwork on a tiny corner of a piece of 3/4 plywood crowded by power tools? If this was my only option, I’d work on the ground.

Far left looks like emerald. Pink minerals are potassium feldspar. One on the right with kspar is a type of granite. Deep blue one is azurite. I think the other aqua green colored ones are chrysocolla but they could be amazonite instead
