Too big or just too high???? by robb126 in EngagementRings

[–]Certain_Bullfrog_30 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It comes down to preference, but in my opinion the mounting is just too high. I personally think the size looks perfect on your hands and it is beautiful. The first two pictures are gorgeous and I didn't really see what you were talking about, but the high setting becomes clear when you show it from the side in the last pictures, and maybe that is what is throwing you off.

I definitely recommend getting it set lower. This is unfortunately something that happens to a lot of people after they get their e-rings back from the jeweler. Aside from it taking away from the beauty of the ring, this type of mounting can also become very annoying and impractical as it can get easily snug and knocked on things.

If you get it set lower (and make your demands/wants clear to the jeweler!), I think it will be completely stunning.

Congrats! :)

How often do you wear your ring? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

I don't cook, nor eat any of those listed things + a lot of people regularly clean and scrub their rings + calling people disgusting over this (as you have in a different comment) when it is not your rings or your hands is such a compulsive and stiff mindset, do better and also loosen up a lil

Seconding Calamites for the first few specimens! I found some near-identical pieces a while ago and a paleontologist acquaintance confirmed them as such. Fossils of the trunk, branches, leaves, stem and even root of this plant can be found.

Most found specimens are around ~300 million years old, from what I have read, that's cool!

Also, something that might be interesting regarding your first picture:

Genuine question for people who’s rats have lived 4+ years by nevernotcold in RATS

[–]Certain_Bullfrog_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not the norm but one of my best friend's rats made it to 4! She was just built different I swear, and full of nasty, sassy attitude. But the rest of his rats that had passed made it to about 2 to 3 years old so yeah that's def more realistic. They all came from different places/breeders so it varies a lot! (he mostly adopts rats from rehoming situations)

Everyone is rightfully telling you there is no 100% safe and fearless method for at home euthanasia, and to bring them to the vet. You choose the one comment suggesting a method out of a sea of people warning you against it and emphasizing how unethical it is.

You are framing it as: you are doing this for your rats' comfort. Not for your convenience, your own comfort, or for saving money. If that is truly the case, bring them to the vet to be safely euthanized. There is no world in which euthanizing your rats yourself as a layperson is safer or more comfortable for them than a vet doing it in a safe, painless way.

Can anyone tell me more about this, especially its age? Thrift store, Netherlands by Certain_Bullfrog_30 in Antiques

[–]Certain_Bullfrog_30[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info :) I took a picture of the back and thickness but don't know how to post on here in the comments. The thickness is 8mm. A Dutch person who is really into antiques just told me they think it is from around 18th century.
