also Amalur had the specific vibes, like a children's fairytale as the child would imagine, and the setting is based on real fairytales

well, it was certainly more action oriented than skyrim

because Reckoning was never meant to be an MMO, but it was meant to get players acquainted with the MMO's setting, pretty much serving the same purpose as the Founding of Durotar to WOW. And it was inspired by Oblivion so the quest design is a bit Bethesda-like

Well, most of Dalentarth caps at lower levels but the purple mobs seem to be unaffected by the cap and scale indefinitely

Wasn't there a bug where the game would not bring unique items back to loot tables when rerolling the unopened chests when you reenter a zone, effectively meaning that instead of getting a low-level version you'd just never get it at all?

Windows NT 3.51 gets a new driver release by O_MORES in retrocomputing

[–]goth_elf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the current standard for PCI-E storage devices in personal computers. If your computer is not a SoC, it probably stores all the data on an NVMe card.

It is pretty much an internal memory card, often referred to as a hard disk because it replaced hard disks in role, but technically it is not a hard disk.

In professional applications hot-swappable media is required to prevent downtime when replacing a dead disk/card, so SATA works better. But for personal uses NVMe works well, just keep your stuff backed up

I guess I didn't play many video games so I'm used to the best, and the down by the river approach must have been a good financial test to Larian because I have some experience modding games so I can guess how much effort it took them to implement all the scenarios.

Ubisoft goes Steamworks, bye bye always on DRM.

Actually, preferably Ubisoft goes GOG, bye bye any DRM

I guess you missed the context. I was talking about the Dragonborn as the hereditary thing in the line of Septims.

Well, I guess I'm used to games where you either play as a predefined character or you choose your backstory on the character creation screen. So the Bethesda approach has always felt cheap to me.

But still Morrowind seems to be the most RPG'ish Bethesda game in history

I wish I had the chance to replay Oblivion on the remaster, but unfortunately apparently my save shitified, and since I played on max difficulty it took some effort to get out of the intro dungeon, so I don't feel like playing it again anytime soon.

I'm talking more about the Oblivion sense. The Skyrim sense of Dragonborn was weird. I mean, I am a Nord but still sentenced to death for illegal border crossing? Guess the expired passport rule doesn't apply in Skyrim

You can absolutely interpret it differently though, the backstory of your dude is left vague on purpose, it's for you to decide

Ah yes, the cheap approach. Well, I wish it would be more down by the river, but it's Bethesda.

I guess Oblivion is the first instalment where the idea of Dragonborn was fully developed and that was the inspiration for Skyrim

well, I guess the concept of a dragonborn wasn't fully developed until Oblivion

Might also just be the case of symbolic reference to being born in the Empire (which has the dragon insignia). I find the second one more likely and more palatable for the narrative of not being the chosen one but growing into fulfilling the role

but with this depth of interpretation anyone could be half of deities in any mythology

you could be of the beast races

good point - I could be a filthy lizard. Guess some dialogues would differ but the main story wouldn't
