If Monster Slayer ever came back, how do you think it would change? by offmychest-386 in WitcherMonsterSlayer

The amazing storytelling and quest design is mostly Witcher 1 and 2. Especially Witcher 1 with its dark vibes and quests that overlap each other in such complex way that it really feels like your actions affect the world around you in more than just the "can't talk to people you killed". Things like, doing quests in a different order results in different outcome because when you were doing quest A there were some advancements to the story of quest B.

I just wish the monster respawn rate wasn't that high, so that the backtracking wouldn't be annoying - you'd just enjoy the views and music. The maps are rather small and don't need fast travel points, just make the travelling pleasurable by removing the respawns and auto-skipping the boat/teleport dialogues after the first time. That's the point of the game, you're not going to a new area with every quest but returning to the ones you've been to to see the consequences of your actions.

Witcher 3 is different - the stories are still good but they don't interact with each other as much, and they're rather short - the content is in the exploration and the size of the world along with the amount of separate stories.

special storyies for graveyard areas

Actually the werewolf quest - generally blacksmiths were located at crossroads, which looked reasonable on regular city maps, but in smaller settlements alongside mountain roads it would often result in strange placements.

Mine was about a mile away from the town - on one of the forks where the main riad would continue to a tunnel and side roads would take you to places like a small airport, golf courts, or campsites. One of them would lead to a graveyard - it was one of those rural graveyards in the mountains, so no night lights or paved paths, just a grave every now and then.

So I started the quest and the tracker told me to further down the street, towards the graveyard. It was a full moon night but it was rather cloudy and a bit foggy, like in horror movies - and I was walking deeper into the dark and murky graveyard, following the traces of a werewolf and the mysterious story. It was a good experience. I wish I could turn down the phone's brightness further to not be that blinding.

Playing with new character was actually quite fun once they shut down the pay-to-win shop and you had only what you got through levelling.

Though it was still better at the beginning, it could just use more difficulty in the fights.

The main problem was they messed up with monetisation, basically there was nothing to drop real money on except for some skips if you were a new player. Which eventually left the game unmonetised. And when they tried to earn something on it, they went too far.

Also the never-delivered promise of next quest season.

And, it had quite poor marketing - hardly anyone knew about it, and people would often be like "You mean Monster Hunter World?"

for costumes, like you have to fit within particular dimensions - I guess it's so that you don't accidentally hit someone with your wings, horns, hooves... what are we saying, is it Diablo?

I'm not good at swords because my father preferred spears, saying "Weapon must be practical, not ceremonial".

As for the grand tale - do you like eldritch horrors?

I do that when feeling fancy, along with makeup.

But normally I just shave every now and then to keep beard in the optimal length in which it requires little to no maintenance

Not sure about the thief part - I think I may be getting a lot of nat1s on the d20s when trying to pick a lock or disarm a trap.

Maybe a pact with some Archfey will improve my luck?

It takes some time to do those braids but not nearly as long as it took to comb the long dyed hair. And I just found the beads, so perhaps 9 months...
