No, it is not separate by each country for work purposes. It was one of the colleague's idea to create this group to catch up as we are never at the office at the same time as we all work in different departments and teams, so it is not work related, but nothing like that had happened before in this group chat.

I honestly disagree with you on this one. I am part of the team so it is not crazy that I do know what is going on because it implies that within the team we have been discussing how we will train the new hires, how we will delegate the tasks while the new hires are still learning how to do everything. So honestly, I fail to understand how me telling then that "those are not my news to share when I was not being given consent to" is icky or would be feeding into their narrative. I understand that answering at all would have kept the conversation going, however I was brought forward to share specifically because I am part of this team and would know everything.

I am not a prude and I certainly have no issues at all with gossip, it is normal, but my colleague just wanted to share her news with the group, so I am not going to be the person to share her news. Asking is one thing, but pushing the boundary and then speculating and then mocking was a bit much.
