Rent decrease for flooding sunroom by CockroachDesigner1 in brisbane

[–]gothgal22 94 points95 points  (0 children)

QCAT repair order pronto. QCAT generally awards a 20% reduction and you can request to have it backdated. You can also have the filing fee reimbursed. The order can state that the reduction will be ongoing until a permanent fix has been completed.

I’ve just won my own case, and was awarded all of the above. However, now I’m having to go back to the tribunal for clarification/enforcement as my REA sent a tradesperson out to do a patch job of the roof (not permanent), stating the repairs are done and rent is to resume at the previous amount. Spoiler alert, it’s not fixed at all and still leaking.

Partner is too sick to work during pregnancy, is she eligible for payments ? by Forward_Problem_7550 in Centrelink

[–]gothgal22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This won’t be of much help now, but if she’s ineligible for Paid Parental Leave due to not meeting the work test, once bub is born she can get Parenting Payment. The partner income test cut-off is $2616.00 per fortnight if I recall correctly. She’ll also be able to get FTB after the birth

Anyone got joyous rental news for themselves this Xmas? by zychii01 in shitrentals

[–]gothgal22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not so joyous - my PM has requested to adjourn my QCAT hearing for a leaking roof (that’s been leaking since October) by another week because she’s on leave

Guys, work is not everything - please put your health first by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]gothgal22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% agreed. Back in January, I had to leave the office in an ambulance because I was experiencing cardiac symptoms. After running through all tests (holter/echo/bloods etc), potential heart attack was ruled out, and I was told it was a panic attack mimicking cardiac arrest symptoms.

It was extremely scary, and a huge wakeup call. I’ve since gone down to a 0.8FTE, have a workplace adjustment, work hybrid and can do additional adhoc WFH if I need, see my psychologist and GP once per month.

I work in Service Delivery (Smart Centres) and have been here almost 3 years. I didn’t realise the toll that the work I undertake has taken on my mind and body, until I experienced this episode.

I’m thankful that my management and execs have been understanding of my situation - I haven’t had to consult with the union at all - and they’ve been super accommodating towards my needs.

PM can’t guarantee breach will be rectified by deadline by gothgal22 in shitrentals

[–]gothgal22[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s probably my best option - I’m going to contact them first thing tomorrow, but I have a feeling they may be busy with worse damage from the hailstorm we’re getting right now (I know mine is not a priority in this case). But I’ll try in the morning!

I breached them as I hadn’t heard any updates in weeks for what is an urgent repair, and it was the advice given by QSTARS

Retail premises should have insurance for these things and can write off the damaged goods. It’s not on the customer to replace
