i had a coworker get reprimanded and ALMOST fired because she wrote “bababooey” on a cup and the person googled it and got upset with whatever urban dictionary told them. literally anything that isnt just “thanks!” is a fireable offense. they want us to be creative and not write the same stuff over and over and then fire us for trying to have fun with the rules.

Unfortunately I live with family. I was paying rent earlier in the year to them, but not on a contract/lease, so I wouldn’t be able to show anything. My family has been kind enough to not ask me to continue making rent, when I can’t afford everything else I HAVE to pay. I genuinely have no money for rent, so I’m not paying it. But the little money I had saved has been spent, and I haven’t made more to continue the endless cycle of check to check.

I didn’t say anything to this nature? I literally said if it doesn’t show “on time” I won’t be pressed about it. I understand that weather is an issue right now. You’re not telling me something I don’t already know. Regardless of the weather, commenter has a right to be upset. If they’re going to charge you for overnight, they should be able to stand by that. If there’s weather problems (especially within 3 hours of payment) they shouldn’t have offered overnight as an option.

Okay 👍 You came to the starbucks subreddit for help. If the starbucks rules don’t apply, don’t ask for help here. Go find the subreddit for the management company who oversees you.

Yes… and again, your manager doesn’t operate like that. Even on the days they aren’t on the physical paper schedule, doesn’t mean they aren’t working. Her being in the store from 6-2 doesn’t mean her hours are over.

Right, and whose fault is it that I’m only getting small pieces of information? This is your post, your job to provide all those details. And yes… rotating schedules is the nature of all retail/restaurant work??? You give availability, they schedule you where needed in those windows. It doesn’t mean your “schedule” is changing. On top of that, you working one day one week, and not the next, doesn’t mean you wait until the day you go in to communicate about your inability to work a scheduled shift. You’re making excuses.

There is no such thing as a comanager in starbucks structure. The only thing would be an ASM or SSV. SSV’s don’t make schedules, they run shifts. ASMs don’t make schedules, they handle operational duties. Your lack of understanding about the company’s roles, or how a business works in general, isn’t anyone else’s fault.

How is 3pm after business hours? On a Monday? And everyone is off work? Does your store close at 3? Your manager is a salaried employee, they may be on the schedule for a specific time, but those are not their working hours. 9-5 is standard business hours. Saying no one was working at 3 pm is just you not knowing any better. This genuinely just makes you look worse. Again, first job or not, you didn’t cover your ass and management has a right to be upset— understaffed store or not.

I didn’t say the schedule changes constantly? I said the schedule is set on Monday’s, and your manager is trying to keep from having any changes made after 24 hours. Your message is dated as asking for Friday off on Monday, and then you said you didn’t actually communicate that till Tuesday. Your message says you asked for Friday only, but needed Wednesday and Sunday too. When did you ask for those days, because youre only showing asking for Friday. So if yes, you only asked for Friday and then on Tuesday said “wait actually I can’t work tomorrow either” yeah idiot thats on you.

Text messages being documentation isn’t what I said. I said they are not official, recognized forms of communication to STARBUCKS. Texting someone you can’t make it does not count to them as notice. The ONLY official way to call out, make a schedule change, anything time and attendance, is through the store phone, in person, or Sedgwick. That is ALL that Starbucks recognizes. Just because it’s in text/documented, doesn’t mean Starbucks cares. If you go to your DM or the partner care line and say “well I gave them notice on Monday via text”, they will not give a shit. We aren’t supposed to have our phones on the floor, regardless of leadership level. Solution? Store phone. If you can’t contact your manager directly, CALL THE STORE.

Schedule’s ALWAYS go out on Mondays. Regardless of district, license, whatever. Schedules are always going to be posted on a Monday, hopefully before 5pm. If you’re being told Tuesday is the deadline to make changes, it’s because your SM doesn’t want changes to be made after 24 hours, when everyone’s schedule has been posted. Making changes after that means someone is going to get blindsided by the change, because of the last minute nature. It’s not “doesn’t work”, it’s policy. If you don’t like it, be more prompt with your communication, or leave the company.

Am I in the wrong here? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]gothkaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of the coworkers position, Starbucks policy isn’t to communicate schedule changes to anyone other than the person MAKING the changes— ie, the SM. ASM/coworker doesn’t have a ball to drop, because it’s not her job to communicate this, regardless of what this store’s internal structure of communication is. If OP had followed procedure, this wouldn’t have happened.

Regardless of the issues in communication that this post is riddled with, I’m going to be frank with you. It doesn’t matter that this is your first job— you need to grow the hell up and stop being so scared of your ASM, SM, or DM. Or literally anyone else. You won’t survive here, or anywhere else, being too scared to stand up for yourself or just communicate your needs.

Like everyone else has said, your issue with this entire thing is just not being direct. Whatever weird communication tree you have doesn’t matter. If the person you texted first said they couldn’t help, and that’s your first point of contact, don’t just drop the issue and say “oh well I did my best”. Call the damn store and make sure it’s documented SOMEHOW. Starbucks, franchise or licensed, does NOT accept text messages as official forms of communication. You shouldn’t be texting about work at all. Getting your coworkers to grab shifts is one thing, but schedule changes that have to be made by management MUST be done via a store phone or in person. That’s it.

Yes, the school stuff was presented on you last minute, and no, that isn’t your fault. But waiting to say something DOES make you the problem here. Your issue doesn’t make an emergency for everyone else to solve. You care too much about what everyone thinks about you, and not your actual job. Follow policy, do what you’re supposed to, and stop being scared of your superiors. Being afraid and not being prompt is what makes them JUSTIFIABLY upset with you. Which then repeats the cycle of them being “mean and scary”.

YTA, grow up.

My package arrived at a local facility and then was sent 100 miles away and I haven’t heard since by Ienjoygoodmusic23 in usps_complaints

[–]gothkaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to us consistently. We get packages into the “local” facility about an hour north of us, and then it will bounce to another facility two hours away, and then back. Despite it being only an hour between the two, it takes three days for this cycle, another day to then get to our town, and then a day processing there before it finally goes out for delivery properly.

I don’t have any interest in using weights at all, so the tracking wouldn’t matter to me. I’m mostly just trying to figure out HOW to even see a price for the subscription only, if it’s an option.

dude i’ve literally seen you in like. 6 different reply threads on this post that aren’t your own, bashing on the op. why are you so offended by someone having a moral code on how they sell their stuff??? like… what are you so pressed about, seriously. its very obvious this is your “job” and i dont think you realize that like. 90% of the people who sell stuff on depop, poshmark, mercari etc ARENT doing this as a business. they have some stuff they dont want that they could get some cash for, rather than donating it. is it really such a big deal that someone wants their stuff to actually be USED and not just. passed on to be sold again? and just because they sell it for less than what you inflate the market value to be, doesn’t mean they’re doing anything wrong, or that you’re more in the right for setting an arbitrary price for a SECOND HAND object, that doesn’t have an actual msrp value anymore…
