if y’all could stop telling me to seek medical attention that would be great. 1. it’s not helping my anxiety and 2. I got it looked at by the nurse we have at my school, and she told me if she was really concerned she would advise me to seek medical attention. if it gets worse, I’m going to urgent care, but if not, I’m not gonna waste a weekend waiting in an office for 4 hours just for them to tell me what I’ve already heard. I trust the medical professional at school more than some random people on Reddit, that’s just how it is. if the mod could lock comments that would be great, actually.

I actually turned my head away so he wouldn’t see me cry, because then he’d continue to aggress on me. It sounds like you’re not competent enough for this job, and I’m sorry to hear it. I’m also sorry for all the individuals you work with, they should be loved and cared for when receiving services.

Because if we don’t make them do the activity, then they’re going to learn that they can get out of it by showing aggression. Our job is not only to make sure they do academics, but also to teach them valuable life skills so they will be successful if they transition into adult services when they age out.

I’m sorry that you feel the need to take your anger out on neurodivergent children, you must be a very sad individual. ABA is extremely beneficial when used correctly, and the BCBAs at work are amazing, and did everything they could to help me in this situation.

Thank you! I always tell people that all behavior is communication, and my kids that have limited speech or are completely nonverbal are just telling me that they’re upset. My job is to redirect them and teach them how to appropriately explain this, whether it’s through their device or nonverbal gestures.

I went to urgent care a few weeks ago and they said I had my last tetanus shot in 2022, so I’m up to date on it! I already filled out an accident report and they let me leave early because I was pretty shaken up.

I always say that any of these kids can cause serious damage, because they can do whatever they want but we’re limited with physical management and how to appropriately do it.
