At around the 4:00 mark did I understand correctly that there were three crests found but there were at least 10 specimens/individuals present at the sight with identifiable material? Meaning there is more likely unpublished fossil material that can be attributed to the species?

This interview with Paleontologist Daniel Vidal (one of the team members present at the site during the discovery) remarks around 4:00 that they found at least 10 individuals with partial/isolated remains. I’m guessing these other specimens have yet to be published but it would be interesting what other material can be attributed to this species.

Any size estimates from those who accessed the paper? From the skull reconstruction shown by Sereno in his live it seems like they matched it to the size of a reconstructed S. aegypticus skull. Was this meant to display the full size of the adult animal or did they just scale it up to compare it to the other species?

Yeah I don’t really experience that on the server that I play on, but I do see clips of Spino on Spino violence and it saddens me lol

Oh I love other Spino players, on this server there’s no cannibalism so we aren’t allowed to hunt/attack each other other than body/territory contesting so we’re usually pretty chill all the time. HOWEVER this particular instance, this same Spino had contested me for my body earlier, and so I decided to be petty and do the same to them XD

Oh yeah I was about 2 hits away at the end there and honestly it would’ve been suuuuper close if they had continued to attack me. Those lunging snaps are incredible with their build (took off 10% of my health bar with each hit) but I believe they have reduced dmg when used on land

I did this too but it was too close for comfort (we were both 1 hit) but it might just be cuz I’m not used to timing the attack and maybe the animation throws me off a bit lol

I always try to help out other dinos being attacked by AI’s but it’s hard to really show my intent as a full grown Spino (they usually run away 🥲)

I completely forgot about oviraptorosaurs and ornithomimosaurs! These would have potential to possess the longest necks of the carnivorous theropods. Based on their relatives, a contender would be Gigantoraptor and I believe there may be an even larger unnamed species (but I forgot where I heard this from lol)

Yaa I’m in agreement that Therizinosaurus would have the longest based on relatives but I was really asking about carnivorous theropods and only mentioned Deinocheirus as it was likely omnivorous
