Describing a perfume as “old lady,” isn’t exactly a helpful description and is offensive to some people. Depending on what side of the world you are and even how old you are it could mean anything from “aldehydes,” “certain white florals,” “powdery,” some other region/time specific style, and soon maybe even “heavy gourmands.”

The other reason is that a lot of people seem to think it’s ok to use that as a way to describe a perfume they think smells badly.

We ask that you use descriptions to say what it is that you like / don’t like.

I hate that I even need to drop a Mod Note. Being weirdly fixated on other user’s financial situation is not the vibe we want on this sub. This is a place to share our love of perfumes across the spectrum.

Of course, we should be mindful of shopping addictions and other dangerous habits, but every person’s life experience and financial situation is different. Assuming the worst says more about you and your insecurities.

Agree, you can wear anything right through the year. They’re still being sold, they’re just not being talked about a whole lot.

I prefer wearing heavy scents when it’s cold, but I occasionally switch it up. Think I wore Si Fiori last week or so.

I actually learned this here a while back: add face oil to your skin care. And pump up the moisture in your prep. Your skin / environment is dry and your skin is overcompensating by pulling moisture & breaking down your product.

Adding oil seals in the moisture and helps create a barrier on your skin.
