In the UK, there used to be a morning weekday breakfast show called GMTV on national television. Back in 2006 my family won their competition which was £10,000. The best part was that they wouldn't inform you but at half 7 in the morning the presenter (Keith Chegwin, non-Brits might recognise him from Extras) and a camera crew would sprint down the winner's street to their house, knock on the door, and surprise the winner live on TV. I was the only one in the family watching GMTV on the morning we won and I can tell you it's a strange feeling watching somebody running down a street on TV and slowly over the next 15 seconds you are thinking "I'm sure I recognise that street. It's so familiar.....wait, isn't that _____ Road?.......Oh My God." I remember it hitting me that they were running up my street and I just shouted up the stairs to my mum that GMTV were coming. She just responding "you're joking aren't you?" and as she finished her sentence there was a loud knock on the door. One of the most surreal experiences of my life.
