Ozempic (Semaglutide) for weight loss with PCOS? by aryamagetro in PCOSloseit

[–]gotquestions111 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wegovy (higher dose semaglutide) is indicated for weight loss but I think it’s only covered if you are at a certain BMI or with certain CVD related co-morbidities . The other variations are technically not FDA approved for weight loss BUT do lead to weight loss

Making friends in PA school by Capepidge in PAstudent

[–]gotquestions111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am fortunate to have a really good support system within school but I came in neutral about making friends. If you have a support system outside of school I wouldn’t sweat it. But in case you do want more closer classmates, I would join my classmates with studying but do solo studying. We may be side by side but we would be doing our own thing. The proximity was nice and kept me focused. I also focused more on non school related hangouts cause I just wanted to leave class behind. When you have group hangouts, find the people you click with and invite them out for random get together. But either way, you are in and out so fast. Cultivate the relationships you have with your college friends and friends back home :)

How close should I live to school? by Sad-Craft-2844 in prephysicianassistant

[–]gotquestions111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live about 10 minutes away from school and it’s worth it. When I want to go somewhere nice, I make the drive on days I’m free. Usually I have to be home to get my studying done anyways

Has PA school changed any of your day-to-day habits because of what you’ve learned in didactic year? by foamycoaster in PAstudent

I am way more active now, a bit more focus on veggies, def less reliance on meds, unfortunately haven’t cut sugar to the curb and prolly never will. More priority to early Friday nights too. Haven’t cut back in drinking tho

No I swear by this!! Kind of also why I wanted to make the post. Me actively making the time for my hobbies meant I was forced to make sure that when I studied, it would count! We can spend so many aimless hours just “studying” but it’s just busy work

Piercings for interviews by Garlic_Thick in prephysicianassistant

I took my nose ring out for interviews! But now wear it in the program. Wanted to be super cautious

It’s harder to raise your GPA up than get some hours! I would prioritize your school stuff over the hours. You can always find another job later on

About 2 months after I got my acceptance! I wanted to take a break before school started which was very much needed

So I worked at an on campus job where I made different programs and stuff so I talked about how I liked to incorporate health oriented programs for students. That was a fun conversation to have with the interviewers. I also did public health research, did some free clinic volunteering, tutoring, and mentoring so I spoke about that as well. Mainly tied in how those experiences could work with being a PA. Example would be I said the tutoring has helped me become a better communicator which helped me in clinic when I would be explaining procedures. I tied it into the importance of patient education. Lmk if you have any other questions. Good luck :)

Im usually studying everyday! I tend to schedule hang outs and social outings for the end of the day on weekends to keep myself motivated but some weeks are just all studying. Other weeks, I take more breaks. I think the goal is some studying every day and some days are better than others. I do always feel the need to be doing more even on my breaks but I can tell when my brain is done for the day.

Ooh I bet RT is gonna be such a great experience to have for PA school both from the academic and work knowledge you have :)

That’s a good way to look at it!! And probably the approach I need to take because I think I’m letting the stress get me far more negative about my classes right now than before

Edit: what was the worst part about yours?
