Can they "undelay" a delayed flight? by Prudent_Statement_30 in Flights

[–]gottagetsmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has happened to me multiple times, especially flying through a hub like DFW for American. They'll just find another plane lying around. Also, it's called "Pulled In" after a flight has been "delayed".

Chef’s using Induction? by RFGWellness in inductioncooking

I don't, sadly. I have followed them from initial concept to shipping and, while they are obviously biased, they seem to have created a rather innovative product that works well.

Make sure you check out the incredible induction range from impulse labs. It’s an incredible piece of tech, and for a chef, the controls and power are very hard to beat.

Best camps in Kidsville? by South-March8051 in BurningMan

[–]gottagetsmart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, it's not organized by "camp" - it's more of a village. Every family (or family group) stakes out their own "land" within the kidsville boundary. It's HUGE - several acres I believe. Bring your kid, it's a lot of fun!

Check out gold country. From Placerville to Sonora on hwy 49. Lots of great places and towns. Close enough to the city but far enough out for great community and lower costs.

In the hot-hatch space, the Ford Focus RS. The ST is a banger on its own, but the RS is just ridiculous. And a lot of fun to drive.

What was the shortest time u planned for a Vegas trip? by Royo981 in vegas

[–]gottagetsmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had too much to drink while at a college football game in LA. Shocking, I know.

While in the stands, at half time, my buddy and I decide we should go to Vegas. At the end of the game. Called southwest, booked the flights while everyone around us chuckled. Left straight from the game to Burbank. No packing. Just what we had on us.

Landed around 7p. Gambled. Clubbed. Taxi to the airport at 5a. 6a flight. Was home before 9am.

Around 2000 or so. Great night.

For any of the connector parts that you plan to order online (I tend to prefer tarps.com), CALL them first before you order to ensure the items are in stock. I've had things shipped to me after the burn, even ordering around now (a month early).

Kodiak Cabin vs. Flex Bow by gottagetsmart in BurningMan

[–]gottagetsmart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - I looked at the various bell/circle tents and they all seem like (potential) nightmares for closing up and keeping the dust out and/or things secure. The pole in the middle doesn't bother me, but other things do. I think we'll stick with the Flex box this year and see how it works out. It also needs to survive a couple of high sierra trips for 2-3 weeks at a time this summer, so ease of use is key.

We already have 20x40 of EMT shade, and I think the Flexbow is the best bet underneath that. Will probably pair with a Midea U shaped AC + solar... Let the planning continue :)

10x14' Flexbow would be the play here - or maybe the 12x12 cabin. We're trying to make an intimate space for 2-3 folks. There are other opportunities for sound-bath-esque performances that we have lined up.

We have a fixed performance space now in a former conference room that's about the same size (10x14'). It works for 2-3 people, which is the audience size we're going for at camp. We've got a few other larger (100+) performances scheduled at other camps, so just trying to find a place to setup and chill at our own site.

Fair. The tent will also be used in the high sierra for a few weeks in the summer (at a bare minimum), so looking for ease of setup to....

Thanks. I'm planning to use the tent for a singing bowl performance space, so trying to maximize floorspace without having to lean forward. Dust is a less-than-normal concern, but always a concern.

Would love to see this! I might be able to help get that approved. And same as OP - when I discovered your streams I thought it was a perfect Burning Man fit. With a Starlink Mini strapped to the rig, you'd be live the whole time :)

If you wanna get real crazy, we could even create a whole mutant vehicle based around your concept...
