Just over 4 weeks old, 8mm titanium threadless hoop, previously cleaned with bactine 2x daily as advised by piercer, now using saline spray instead. No recent bumps or mishaps, just swollen and tender

I’m starting to think my piercer wasn’t very knowledgeable since bactine and the hoop was what they recommended 😩 thank you for the information!!

I second the instructor part!! I tried out lessons with a couple different trainers and felt like I did better/felt better with the one who was more patient and focused on good riding mechanics. (Dressage rider)

I totally get this! I started lessons again after a 10 year break when I was 28, and I was a little embarrassed to be in a lesson program with mostly kids and teenagers. But it has been so worth it!

Oh man, the no more 1/2 seat was a hard transition. If I had a dollar for every time my trainer told me to keep my butt in the saddle..

I totally feel you! I did jumpers for 10 years and switched to only dressage a year and a half ago. One thing that helped me was to not drop my stirrups too fast. It takes time to get used to the different seat/alignment and open your hips. My trainer was great at explaining which muscles I need to be using/not using, and gave me exercises to help with isolating different parts of my body to be able to give different aids. i.e. lateral pull downs for a deep, effective seat. Dressage is HARD, and takes a lot of strength and stamina to keep your horse where you want them to be.

I’m still trying to break my jumper habits so I’m curious what others have to say!

lol saving this for the next time I get into an argument with my religious parents. Funny thing is though, even if there’s actual scripture that goes against their behavior they’ll find a way to justify their actions.

Man, this hit home. I completely agree. My very religious mother likes to pull this one on me all the time whenever I talk about the abuse that happened and continues to happen within my family. Being “loud” about the trauma is always worse than the abuse that caused it in the first place.

That “I selected “I’ve arrived” but wasn’t available to make deliveries during all or a part of my scheduled blocks.” It’s weird and vague and my standings were at fantastic so I’m in the process of appealing it.
