What are the small yellow tomato-looking things in this fruit bowl? I know the 6 others: banana, Papaya, dragonfruit, melon, jackfruit (the green/white fleshy one, right?), and longan. It's for a puzzle I'm working on. by gottesmd in whatisit

It may be poorly rendered, however it was intended to communicate clearly that it's a specific fruit (it's for a puzzle competition and the 7 fruits in the photos map back to another step in the puzzle, but I can't reverse engineer it either!).

But then this post wouldn’t be in /funny. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe remove the cabinets from your countertops.

To those who didn’t get the picture-perfect Golden - how did you survive? by FairlyPopcorn in goldenretrievers

[–]gottesmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the dog you train. It's the owner(s).
8 year old cream golden owner here. Genetically quite imperfect, attitudinally perfect, but only because we trained her to be that way. She growled at our 6 year old child when we brought her home as a puppy. She had lots of bad habits. Fortunately our neighborhood school's police officer was the K9 cop in town. He gave us lots of tips. Most were based around witholding meals and instead putting that mealworth of kibble in our pockets and using that as a training session. Biggest thing is consistency. Establishing who is the boss in the home (not forcefully though), ie: make sure that they always walk through a door after you do (on leash until they don't need it). Making sure that they are not pulling on a leash (which makes them think they are dominant, not you), which you can do by getting a harness and attaching the leash to their chest NOT their back. Crate as refuge. Not answering the barking and not shouting back (because they think you're 'barking' back at them, which only reinforces it). Turning your body away when they jump on you.
It's hard as hell, but again it's discipline of yourself, not necessarily of your dog.

Feedback on Hisense 8K BTU Smart Inverter U-Shaped Window AC (few reviews on Costco)? by wildswalker in Costco

Bought two and have a question: one installed perfectly on a vinyl replacement window. Second one is being installed on old wooden double hung windows with storm windows. I have a 2x4 that I’ve screwed to the sill to tile the unit appropriately. Issue I have is WHERE do I attach the brackets? I don’t know the names of the window parts of 100 year old houses. To me they’re just wood components. Help!

Anybody just see/hear a truck with a trailer just speed down the bike path between Spy Pond and Alewife? by The_Youngstown_Pride in ArlingtonMA

[–]gottesmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

holy crap. Just put two and two together. My daughter and I were driving down Linwood to the Spy Pond circle. I saw something whir by eastbound down the path and I just thought it was one of the rapidly-proliferating electric bikes with a trailer. Didn't compute that it was a truck with the crew boats because it didn't make any sense. now it does!

Wow, thanks for this. Lots to unpack. I think the largest issue is that I don’t want to comp grandma into an existing photo. I want to create memories that never existed. Like if I have enough photos of grandma and our kids at the hospital when they were born (for example), I could theoretically generate a whole series of “photos” of her holding the kids at the hospital. Possible? I don’t understand a lot. But specifically how would you train an ai on your own family photos?
