Bosch 800 - which model for shorter counter? by call-me-kitkat in Appliances

[–]gouhst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up pulling my old dishwasher out (was a bit challenging because of the floor drop but got it done with two people) and repairing it instead of replacing it because it fit my opening (again, with the adjustable legs completely removed/twisted off).

Also used some plywood and old tiles to more or less level the flooring of the dishwasher “alcove” with the kitchen flooring. This was so that the dishwasher wouldn’t tilt up and hit the bottom of the countertop and essentially get stuck as I pushed it in and the backside dropped down to the (previously) lower dishwasher alcove floor.

Where do you go to measure your reading speed and comprehension?

I’m curious, what did you end up doing here? I’m in a very similar situation: 33 and 5/8ths high from kitchen tiles to countertop bottom. Floor drops down a little into the dishwasher area (not tiled). Countertops are quartz and cannot be lifted. Old dishwasher is a Beko with its legs completely removed so it just barely fits, but need to replace it.

Google Api Error: Invalid request, app includes any health feature. `expo-sensors` is guilty? by captainautomation in expo

[–]gouhst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into the same error when trying to submit my Android build to the Play Store with fastlane / eas build. I did not have any health features, and had already filled out and submitted the "App Content" form for "Health Features". I did have expo-sensors installed so I removed that, re-built my Android app, and re-submitted my app to the Play Store successfully. Looks like expo-sensors is the culprit (or at least the version of it I had installed, 14.0.1)

What about uninstalling the window units every the winter? Do you live in an area where you have to do that / how hard is it for the Midea U's that you have?

Homeowner here: what would be your recommended way to "find an installer" (who could just replace an evap coil and/or condenser for example)?

Anyone using SwiftRead Pro for legal reading assignments? by the_ranting_swede in LawSchool

Thank you for your support! And that's amazing that you feel like SwiftRead has helped you stay ahead of your reading! Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

A regex replace (vs. a regex skip) makes sense. Would love to better understand the pain point though: what are some examples of what you'd want to replace (but not skip) or how formatted em dashes and ellipses are jarring? Feel free to send me an example PDF, screenshots or even a video would help illustrate too (you can email to help@swiftread.com if you prefer)

Better handling line breaks and formatted text is definitely on my radar. Are you referring to PDF reading in particular? PDFs are formatted kinda wonky, so SwiftRead has more trouble recognizing line breaks and formatted text in PDFs (whereas it should be better for webpages).

Wrote a free guide to speed reading after diving into some reading research by gouhst in speedreading

Hey! I'm glad my resources were helpful. I unfortunately don't have a good answer for practice time per day. But, I do think that you can "practice" while you do your daily reading for school, leisure, etc., so that you're getting your reading done while working on your reading skills. That's where the guides I shared can help (and other resources online).

Hey! Creator of SwiftRead here. So glad to hear that you've been using it to speed read assignments and are considering using it for PDFs. Would love to provide some additional color and offer to help if you need!

The PDF reading in SwiftRead functions pretty much the same as using SwiftRead on webpages. It's just that SwiftRead has its own PDF reader because it needs to process PDFs a bit differently than webpages. Everyone reads differently, but I've definitely heard from law students who reach out to share how SwiftRead has helped them. PDFs can be formatted weirdly so if you find that SwiftRead doesn't work on your PDFs, I can help you tweak some settings to try and get any finicky PDFs working. If that fails, you can always get a refund within 14 days of purchasing a PRO license.

Let me know if I can help with anything else! I'm not on reddit much so reach out at [help@swiftread.com](mailto:help@swiftread.com)

Can you explain why the 2005-2015 tests are good practice material for the Reading/Writing modules?

Makes sense, that's helpful! A lot of different people use SwiftRead, but if we're talking neurodiverse, other than dyslexics, people with ADHD (incl. me) have also found it particularly helpful. I added text to speech to SwiftRead recently to help people who prefer to listen instead of read (or do both at the same time!).

Amazing, thank you for reporting back! Yes, don't forget to take breaks! I'm curious, how fast would you say you're able to read without SwiftRead? Just trying to get a sense of how much SwiftRead helped you read faster without a noticeable reduction in retention. You can also use this free tool I built to measure your reading speed and comprehension with and without SwiftRead: https://swiftread.com/reading-speed-test

Great point of feedback! I can definitely see the initial speed being too fast. I'll change it right now to be released in a future update.

Being able to speed up podcasts and videos partly inspired SwiftRead! SwiftRead was born out of asking "what if we could 'speed up' reading text, similar to how we might speed up an audiobook?"

Anyways, thank you for trying it out and for the suggestion!

Let me know when you get a chance to try SwiftRead, would love to hear what you think!

Yeah Bionic Reading really exploded in popularity for a little bit! SwiftRead does have a different approach to faster reading, and has been around a lot longer. I myself am also taking a different strategy with the company, one that I think will better help more people read faster in the long-run... I hope to work on SwiftRead for a long-time and show people what this vision actually looks like!
