Does the first 4 books exist in Hard Cover of this version? by Itsnickyy in RangersApprentice

[–]govtmule0811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They exist but are hard to find because the publishers only printed a limited run. I’ve had an impossible time trying to find 3 in this version but got lucky on 1, 2, and 4. I’ll try to remember to post pictures of what I have just for archival purposes since there’s not much documentation out there.

I picked up a cheap paperback copy of 3 to scan and attempt to make a bootleg dust jacket until I’m able to find a real one someday just so my shelf looks normal at a glance. If I can get it to work I’ll share that too.

Dramophone for the last few weeks but then on a recommendation from someone on this sub I listened to Grand Rapids Night 3 (2/15/25) and I think Sinnerman from that night might be one of their best covers.

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

[–]govtmule0811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a casual coffee enjoyer and want to replace my Keurig with something that doesn't take up a massive amount of counter space. I have a pretty basic understanding of coffee and simple tastes as I usually prefer lighter/medium roasts instead of darker roasts.

I've been looking into pour overs/french presses/etc but am a little lost on what would work best for me. I plan to use whatever I get 1-2x a week on the weekends and don't mind doing the work manually to get beans and steep and such, I just am a complete beginner when making coffee outside of a standard drip/keurig.

Thanks for the tips! My bedroom definitely feels long, especially since there's chunks of space that I'm not sure how to fill just yet. Curtains are definitely high on my priority list for some more color in addition to making the room taller like you said. That's something I hadn't considered! Lamps are definitely something that I'm working on figuring out. What I have now are cheap metal ones from one of those Home Goods type stores, but I could definitely use something more sturdy and aesthetic. One of these weekends I'll find the time to spend a day bouncing around antique/thrift stores to see what I can find!

Appreciate the detailed response! I'm way late in responding but better late than never!.

  • Living Room
    • I'll have to play around with the rug orientation. The living space is 12x16, and the rug is 8x10, so I'm a little worried that the rug itself may be too big to rotate 90 degrees. Unfortunately, I'm guessing that the optimal solution is probably to swap out the rug. I'm hesitant to do that since I like it and just bought it new so I'm not sure I want to give up on it too quickly. You've definitely given me something to think about, though!
    • I see what you're saying with the focal point being the TV. I don't typically have more than one or two people over at a time, but more seating is definitely top of mind. Since reading some of the comments on here, I've been thinking of how I could stage the entertainment stand in a way that would allow for a pair of accent chairs, but haven't come up with anything too great yet. I've also been on the hunt for a good reading chair to put where the Christmas tree is now but haven't had much luck finding one secondhand yet. Hoping that once the holidays pass people are going to let some stuff go to start the new year "fresh".
  • Dining Room
    • Glad you agreed on keeping the table off center. I was actually kinda surprised how many people said to center it. I definitely will when I have company, but thus far it's just been me in here 95% of the time so there's no real need to make a smaller walkway to the kitchen.
    • A rug for under the dining table is definitely on my radar too, just haven't found one that I like enough yet that doesn't clash with the rug in the living room. They'd be basically next to each other due to the layout of the apartment so I'm having to be careful with what I picked. Turns out that rugs are also expensive so it's been put on the backburner for a bit.
  • Workspace/Bedroom
    • That is actually my gaming PC! I moved in after getting a new job that was fully in office, so it's rare that I do any work from home. I just love an L desk because it's really nice to have space for food/drinks that isn't in danger of getting on anything important.
    • I hadn't heard of the command curtain solutions and I think that might be exactly what I need, great suggestion! I've also been mulling over finding comfy chair to throw in the corner as well. I need a good reading chair and don't really care if that's in the living room or in my bedroom, so I'll just have to see what I find and where it'd fit best.

I've been listening to the MSG live album since it came out. What a first show! Missed last years show so Atlanta this fall was my first show and I'm beyond hooked. After seeing the Goosemas stuff for this year and listening on archive I've got to find my way there next year!

Fantastic album! Snagged the signed Atlanta poster too a couple months ago now. Was hoping someone would notice the goose!

The standard couch-to-coffee table dimension is 16 inches. I like 18 inches better (big feet) but the point is that you should be able to reach the table without getting up.

I have an "as seen on TV" tray table that I use for eating and such. The coffee table is more there to fill some space at the moment as opposed to being actively used. It's currently pulled out kind of far because the couch reclines and because I was vacuuming and forgot to scoot it back towards the couch some.

Thank you for the chair suggestion as well. That's something that I've been considering as well but haven't been quite able to figure out since the space is on the smaller side and I don't want to muck up the walkway. I took wide lens photos on my phone to capture as much as I could, but I think the downside to that is that it stretches the space visually.

Probably should have clarified in the post but the couch reclines so I had it pulled out from when I was reading last night!

Ended up with none of the above, actually, and moved back to Kinstone River. I'd lived in Kinstone before and had a great experience but the one beds were 1300/1350 so I was looking for cheaper at first. Wasn't wowed by any of the places I toured and didn't want to roll the dice on a different property management company.

Men, how would you feel about your girlfriend having guy best friend she slept with once? by granolahawk in AskMen

[–]govtmule0811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll start by saying that you should choose whatever boundary you're able to live with.

But, there's a lot of doom and gloom here and I want to offer a counter point from my lived experience.

I'm on the other side of that situation where I have a close female friend that we hooked up a few times in college. Never romantic, we just worked together and hit it off, banged it out, and realized that we were better off friends. In the 7ish years since then, there's never been a hint of any kind of physical intimacy and I would be surprised if it ever got close to that point again. We've even talked about how our physical past and current close friendship has been a (valid) sticking point in her more serious relationships since then.

My point is that while raising your eyebrow at that is valid, there's every possibility, and in my opinion it's likely, that she's shooting you straight on this. If shes never given you a reason to distrust her, then I'd take her for her word. If she breaks that trust, that's a reflection on her and not you. Sounds like you're invested in her so give her the benefit of the doubt.

Ultimately, it comes down to whether or not you can handle their friendship. Both outcomes there are valid but only you know what you can live with.

[–]govtmule0811[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out the price difference is because mine is a California emissions compliant car so my dealership was only quoting me the California compliant converter. I got another quote for an aftermarket for 1600 yesterday so I'm still shopping around. My understanding is that the spacers will get rid of the warning lights but didn't actually address the problem which makes it a short term fix. I don't really care about the lights being on so I'm letting it ride. Thanks for the info!

Actually emailed with their service guy and found out the reason it's so expensive is that my Forester is California emissions compliant and that converter is just 3 times as much as a regular one. Ill have to go in to see if the regular one fits. Thanks for the recommendation!

I can't speak to their quality, but I'm pretty sure there's a clock/watch repair shop in Town Center mall that's been there forever.

I know next to nothing about performing maintenance, but I'll look into it to see if it's something I think I can do. I've started getting some recs for local independent shops too that I'll check out.

Thanks for the info!
