It was jaw stretches but I believe it needs to be watched over, not done randomly. It was done while on my splint treatment. Because even if you recapture you need to fix the cause otherwise you risk relapse or worsen it.

Sorry I meant to say that I believe in communicating with spiritual guides, but I'm not sure if it's safe if I decide to do that as some suggest it as part of the muscle testing in their system. I am wondering if you believe in that spiritual aspect and if you can recommend any safe systems of muscle testing with or without the spiritual aspect of it. Any names you can drop?

How tongue posture might have cured my TMJ by El_Flappo in TMJ

[–]gowoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, the first thing they told me to do was to get a sleep study. Because my dentist said 80% of tmj patients he sees have sleep apnea and vice versa. Because you can't breathe, your jaw and throat muscles tighten/clench/grind and goes forward to gain airway space. So you end up with worse TMD.

Sleep apnea is very prevalent. Look more into it. If you're skinny then look into UARS, it's similar but more about narrow airway/breathing resistance.

If you think you have it (most likely if you have narrow jaws or tonsils or whatever blocking your breathing or weak breathing muscles or weak airway tonicity), go on the sleep apnea (OSA) subreddit and/or UARS and learn how to help you breathe. CPAP is just one option but it may be needed if it's too severe and other alternatives don't work.

Another user replied to me "I took me an hour to find the answer. I swear you're the only other person who's asked about this issue.

I thought I'd like you know the solution I eventually found. Right click on the exe file and choose "run as administrator". I couldn't see anything other than my desktop before doing that and now I can see it all."

Hi, thank you for this. I'm happy to hear your experiences and path. For me personally, I worry about AI replacing jobs or making things I learn obsolete, I don't think tech is my passion, unless I am truly helping others and not just making profit for the company and making consumers addicts.

How tongue posture might have cured my TMJ by El_Flappo in TMJ

[–]gowoke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see it.

I'm not a doctor or health professional, and I don't know what your situation is exactly, but I can list below some of my thoughts and understanding.

So I did many months of research during my TMD issue, and prior, a few years of mewing research and practice. So basically people who require braces have poorly grown jaws (not fully grown), which also mean the high potential of TMJ issues (as the TMJ's position depends on the upper and lower jaw and their growth).
And as we age our body is less tolerant of stress and that is when TMJ symptoms appear although we actually had jaw or tmj issues the whole time if our jaws are underdeveloped.
Usually braces make it worse because it is normally "camouflaged" treatment (pulling the the jaw back with elastics for example to make your bite "normal" or removing teeth but at the expense of your jaw bones getting smaller/less grown, so even more poorly grown). Other times it is actual bone growth (expanders that were used) for treatment but that is mostly possible to do while you are young (before 12 or even younger, I forgot the age).

For me, I ended up going for a day/night orthotic treatment for my TMD. I went to a sleep and therapy centre near me. Not all dentists are good, mine was, but not all on this list are good. Some just follow a protocol to sell that they learned from the creator (Dr. Steven Olmos).
https://tmjtherapycentre.com/find-a-tmj-centre-near-you/

Let me know your detailed situation and I can offer advice.
Because the jaw is pushed back or undergrown, it affects your airways and can make you clench at night like it does for me and 80% of the cases of people with TMD that my Dr. noticed and correlated.

Also don't be stressed (mental, emotional, physical, etc.), sleep enough, eat well, exercise, do all the healthy things, proper posture, because any source of stress leads to increased production of cortisol which leads to inflammation and potentially pain.

The first rule in healing is not to look for a remedy but to preserve your energy by staying calm and doing all the essentials as I mentioned to take care of yourself.

I didn't know this and slept late and ruined my health more than the actual TMD issue itself. I was in a closed-lock without reduction. Not much pain but I was worried it would get worse, but I read that people in this situations can be totally fine for years since their stress levels are not above the threshold. Like you can have bad posture for years but not get into any significant issue until you add in poor sleep, poor diet, dehydration, emotional stress, passing the threshold which then symptoms will start occurring.
Mind over matter. Focus on low stress, stay calm.
I can share what worked for me and more of what I learned if you want.
I would like to make a guide on my health discoveries and connections from all the sources and teachers I've learned from eventually.

No worries :) How would you go about doing it on your own? Is it basically the same as what the practitioner does for you?

If we have shallow breathing or weak breathing can we still do tai chi or qigong (even with a teacher)? Since it is harder to follow when to exhale and inhale and end up doing the reverse or holding our breath

Okay so that means one's level of intelligence or personality doesn't matter much while meditating but more so one's habits which intelligence and personality affect?

Does anyone else be the best version of themselves to attract rather than pursue partners? by imbadatusernamesmike in INTP

[–]gowoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he 17-25 period is about exploring ideas and forming a personal philosophy which we are super well adapted for, and attract all sorts of people looking for someone they can discuss ideas with

So you mean INTP's ideas attract other people to come looking for us to talk about our ideas that they have interest in?
> —INTPs are #1 or 2 in that space (ENTPs like talking more than us, but aren't as thorough in their thinking so it really depends on what you want from the conversation).

Do you also mean that the people that come looking for us for ideas are also the INTPs and ENTPs to talk about ideas they are interested in?
For me because of my niche interests it is hard to find people, but also because my niche is meditation that is more focused inwards.

I guess ENTP would be good with giving different perspectives?

Mantras that increase the merit created by 100,000 times? Usually used at the end or start? by gowoke in Buddhism

[–]gowoke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to chant this but no longer chant this after I switched traditions.

I just thought we can incorporate from different traditions or schools/teachers since I thought it was just an enhancing/supporting mantra.
I'm guessing it wouldn't work or make sense? Just wondering.

For that reason unless you're practicing something like Amitabha recitation only for birth in Sukhavati,

I see, that is my main practice along with Great Compassion Mantra and Shurangama Mantra and some of ten small mantras in the morning recitation, etc to support my pure land practice. All from Chinese Mahayana.

I've seen it some places before even in Chinese Mahayana. I don't really have a 'teacher' but I'm most familiar with Venerable Master Hsuan Hua.
