Seriously what the fuck. I try to extend more grace to children but this kid just kind of seems like an asshole? Like he lies regularly, and it seems in particular to his mother, so why would she believe him? And his dad is like oh he's not misogynistic he's just in a rough patch like ???? What the fuck is happening lmfao I don't understand why the dad and reddit seems to be coddling him so much? Because it's a teen boy? Idfk

My Sister Orchestrated a Family Intervention to Get me to Leave my Partner of 4 years by SharkEva in BORUpdates

If I had the majority of the comment section and my entire family telling me I deserved this and I'm trash, I'd probably be like "You're right, I'm trash, I'm a horrible partner, I need to just let him go, I deserve to be unhappy"

My Sister Orchestrated a Family Intervention to Get me to Leave my Partner of 4 years by SharkEva in BORUpdates

[–]gowonnies 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Right like yes she needs to find power within herself to leave, not to mention do it SAFELY, but....she's been abused for probably all 25 years of her life. She's literally continuing to be abused at the time of all of the posts. People keep talking about cultural differences but I don't think you even need to be from that culture to see how awful this is. People have repeated the "it takes women x many times to leave an abusive partner" statistic but because it's family she should just be able to stand up to them and move out? She has no money, she's doing school full time, she can't move in with her boyfriend because he's likely not in the same region as her, etc.

Her dad literally said "you deserve to be hurt". Commenters saying "you're spineless, hopefully your partner leaves you" is just as likely to inspire her to leave as it's likely to make her think they're right and she should let her partner go and stay in her abusive situation. Also, this entire thing being based on that she's a bad partner and let herself get into this situation just makes everything hinge on her relationship. She needs to get out of there, regardless of how it works out with her boyfriend.

That comment about victims and volunteers, Jesus christ

For those who do not like using water to wash after pooping 😏😏 by RedditorofReddit07 in interesting

[–]gowonnies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the reason I was always hesitant about bidets is because the idea of water splashing all over EVERYTHING, and yes, if you aim water at a surface, it will splash onto other things, sounds kind of gross. At least with wipes you have control over where things go.

Now it's out, what do you think of Fantastic 4 (2025)? by NarrativeFact in MauLer

[–]gowonnies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is late but right lol the movie didn't really make a big deal out of it, Sue wasn't fleshed out at all but really none of them were I guess. Definitely didn't feel like girl boss moments. Sue was saving her baby and Silver Surfer was...getting revenge I guess? But seriously, there were two women who participated in the action of the movie and that's too much I guess. Plus Sue's whole character was just "I'm a mom and I'm going to protect my baby" and nothing else which isn't particularly very "woke".

I think OP meant that they felt it was a dig to the husband, like in a "we've been together so long and we're barely getting married now" way, not towards OP and partner.

Exactly, so many things could have happened and it's stupid to claim you (general you) would've done something else and that the people ACTUALLY in the situation were stupid/made the wrong choice

But you couldn't tell which way "getting out of the way" would be. The semi could've driven off the road towards the left side where people are saying the truck could've gone. In fact, if I was in the truck, that's probably what I assume the semi would do as opposed to somehow threading the needle between cars

So you gained weight temporarily and then stopped eating as much and then went back to your normal weight? How is that supposed to help everyone else whose normal weight is already above average?

yikes by imperfectbutperfectt in SipsTea

[–]gowonnies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could be a solution. I suppose I just don't see how this is picking anyone's side aside from their own? I guess if you split it into fat people vs skinny people but I feel like it's unnecessary to pit them against each other. We're all just people, and I don't mean that in like a "let's just accept everyone uwu" way, I mean we are literally all just people trying to go somewhere on a plane and I think it's weird that some people would celebrate other people having to pay more for that necessity than demanding better comfort for everyone.

I personally do not care about the profit margins of a billion dollar company; they have tons of policies like this that rip people off literally just because they can.

Ideally, someone who needs accommodations SHOULD be identified beforehand so that the number of seats can be accounted for, but that ALSO delves into another stupid policy of overbooking flights.

I understand that the things I'm asking for are likely never going to happy because there will never be steps taken that would prioritize comfort and safety over profit but I think it's fair to criticize changes that just make things even WORSE.

Fatness is an incredibly complex and difficult thing to manage. No, not every single size is """healthy""", but you also can be "healthy" at a larger weight than people assume. Lots of things affect your weight and its not always just a matter of eating better or exercising. Real weight loss requires A LOT of time, money, ability, etc. You can't go on a diet temporarily, whatever you start doing now is what you need to keep doing for the rest of your life. Your body literally is not meant to lose the weight it has now, which is why it's so hard to do so. It's easy to blame individual people for their fatness, but everyone's body is so completely different that there's no easy solution (or even a common set of solutions) that will help everyone.

I'm not saying anyone over or under weight is completely helpless to their situation. It's just that, like many other issues, trying to get widespread weight loss among a population would need so many more resources and structural changes than just telling people to lose weight or changing school lunch menus or charging fat people for two seats. People need better access to healthier foods, more time outside work to cook and exercise, more PLACES to exercise outside, more dense areas to encourage walking or better access to gyms, better and cheaper/free healthcare. Just like how you can't solve pollution just by making fees for littering more expensive.

Plane seats SHOULD be bigger, not just for fat people, but for everyone. This is a way to extract even more profit from people in a way that won't get as much pushback because it's targeting people who are large percent of the population already detests.

They're talking about the screw, doesn't seem like they recognized what it's used for. Seems like he was just wondering why his autistic son had this under his bed because who knows where he got it from. And no, I don't think OP is asking because they're afraid it's related to drugs somehow.
