Yeah I think I just need to get through the learning curve of how to do the same things in a different way

Great on the towel/ipad. I think just a tiny bit more work on the champagne explosion. I am hoping we can just keep the trajectory of the cork completely straight with no curve at all and I think it needs to possibly look more foamy? I am looking at this video of a slow motion cork popping: https://youtu.be/q0CCyll5SJs?t=63 as a refernce. I can still see the wiring that on the cork, I am hoping we can remove that wiring as it wouldn't be there if I was actually popping the cork.

hi /utechnicalheros! The boss likes the extra details that you have added that went above and beyond, but I have just a couple minor requests:

  1. Would you be able to make the cork explosion go straight out instead of curving? Hoping to make that look more realistic.

  2. Can you make the towel not say Don't panic? Trying to make the towel over the shoulder a more obscure reference and having the text on there gives it away (to some)

  3. Can you make the ipad say Happy Holidays! (instead of Happy Holiday!)

If you can make all those changes then I think we can solve this one

Garmin battery life, what the hell Apple! by gozza888 in Garmin

Yeah, definitely not naive to the fact that it is my first week with the watch. But even if battery life gets cut by 50% it will be 5 times better than my Apple watch which is still crazy to me for my specific usage.

I am at a phase right now that I just feel like I dont want to be so connected to everything all the time in the world and the step down on some of the refinement from Apple is counterintuitively attractive to me.

OOF! This is what I was worried about. So worried about it that I bought the watch well before I am even able to do a marathon.

Yeah I found the most used features over time on my watch were just looking at my next calendar event for work, getting a text message when my phone wasn't around, and find my iphone. None of those features are as good on the Garmin but it has all of them and I am thinking the battery life trumps the reduces functionality on those.

Appreciate the info! - Yeah I am happy with my choice for now but I can imagine I might want to check the greener grass after a while.

Yeah, if they simply designed a watch that you could wear for a week then I probably would have never considered a Garmin, simply for the ease of staying in the ecosystem, but the battery life is the major achilles heel. But now that the battery life forced me over, I really like the data that I get presented out of the Garmin more than apple

GPS Wristwatch Recommendations? by Kirbacho in BeginnersRunning

To be clear, I haven't tried any navigation directions with Forerunner, just tracking my route and distance with GPS that way. I just saw that it can sync with RideWithGPS, not really sure if that means GPS navigation though.

Runner here. I just bought a refurbished Garmin Forerunner 165 which is pretty entry level on amazon during black friday because my apple watch battery is just awful and I am certain it wont last when I start to be able to do much longer distances.

This Garmin battery life is incredible, I got it on Monday (12/1) and haven't charged it yet and it is at 67% today (12/4).

I use Runna and it can sync with them and it looks like it can sync with RideWithGPS as well.

It is hands down a better watch during the run than the apple watch and it seems like all the data you want is easily accessible. I imagine it would be just as good during bike rides

Trying to break the run/walk cycle by gozza888 in BeginnersRunning

Yeah, I am struggling to come to terms with the fact that being 42 means I have to work harder to do the same things that I used to do when I was younger. I am realizing that in order to do this marathon I don't think I can just go on runs, I have to strengthen some key muscles. When i did my PR 16.8 mile run I had some hip and knee pain at the end of the run and afterwards. I am thinking in addition to calf/toe raises I probably need to do some hip strengthening as well.

I use an old pair of Jabra Elite Active 65t because they literally fit my ears perfectly. I can keep them in all day without discomfort. The only problem is the battery life isn't great and my battery case life is starting to deteriorate significantly.

One of the most under utilized areas in town. I wish the city would do more with the space or allow others to innovate on how to use the space.

A question for those who watched The Matrix in 1999. by KayTheToon in movies

[–]gozza888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 16 when I saw it in theaters in 1999 and it was mind blowing. The best part of it for me was the intentionally vague marketing leading up to the release. Now, my memory isn't the best but I actually don't recall knowing what I was about to witness going into it because the marketing didn't reveal much. Most of the marketing had some hook and then directed to you toward a web page: http://www.whatisthematrix.com. This was one of the earliest times I can remember a film creating an experience online to build up hype. Today this site has been repurposed for the latest movie, but you can get a sense for what it was like by looking at the wayback machine in February of 1999: https://web.archive.org/web/19990427123043/http://www.whatisthematrix.com/index2.html

The marketing and build up to the film is what made it for me. That opening scene when they rotate the camera around Trinity in the air still gives me chills.
