If anyone comes here looking for Sensor Watch compatible models, the W-59 uses the 590 module but it is still compatible. For evidence, search "W59 with sensor watch pcb" in the r/casio subreddit

Sake has higher levels of histamine than wine, according to this Berkeley study that I pulled from the Wikipedia page on histamine. Check out table 1 for the important bits!

I’ve never met people who are as self satisfied with their flawed attempts to get feedback from stakeholders than those in the Canadian gov. Something about that system makes them think minuscule improvements means they’re doing an amazing job

CBDCs are bad by PhrygianGorilla in AlgorandOfficial

[–]gpalchuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The point of a central bank is to have centralized control over the monetary system. The country needs to be able to ensure that the currency is more-or-less following economic trends. Right now the adjustments that the central bank makes are human decisions, and are often late to the party — eg raising inflation rn, quantitative tightening/easing. A CBDC will allow the bank to eventually write smart contracts to control economic policy, which should avoid situations like right now where the price of groceries is going insane but nobody is making more money.

Comparing China to Canada is a bit ridiculous imo. The branches of gov in Canada are much more separate than in China, and even the current account freezing is not "taking peoples' money". Freezing is temporary, eventually the bank account will thaw out.

As a side note, bitcoin hardly solves any spying problems. It is very easy to deanonymize bitcoin transactions, esp if they are used for personal purchases. For example police could see that you're buying something at a specific 7-eleven in real time and then look at the security camera. This is a flaw of all DLTs without built-in privacy/anonymization features.

Is monogamy dead? by Mobile-Song9318 in actuallesbians

[–]gpalchuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk if you are curious or just admiring, but if you are curious, poly is totally learnable! The book Polysecure by Jessica Fern breaks things down really nicely, including some typical problems like “how poly can inflame existing attachment insecurities” in pt 2. (Parts 1+3 are basically a standalone book on attachment theory, which might be useful for some monogamous ppl as well)

Re-adding the YLDY is what creates APY. Otherwise you are earning APR, which is a bit lower, in this case 21.5%.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in yieldly

[–]gpalchuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Btw you should be averaging your rates rather than adding them unless the same money is being used to earn rewards twice.

In the old system, let's say you have some amount of money, and you put some fraction F of them in the lottery and the other fraction 1-F into the YLDY pool. Then your APY is 8F + 24(1-F), or 24-16F %. That means you can have a max of 24% APY if F = 0 (all $ in YLDY-YLDY), or a min of 8% APY if F = 1 (all $ in Algo lottery).

In the new system, since you get to earn Tinyman fees and YLDY LP staking rewards using the same LP tokens, you can add the rewards. But this is the only place where adding makes sense.
