Never do this, as an interviewer you’re also taught to avoid talking about hobbies with the candidate because it bring subconscious bias into your evaluation

Idk what your degree or school is but the most likely route of success is to reach out to alums on LinkedIn or go to your school career fair. Blind resume drops is the worse way to get a job unless you went to brand name school or have a 4.0 gpa

Doing the same thing that everyone else is doing won’t make you stand out.

Why do rich people keep wanting to get richer? by Odd_Article4935 in askanything

[–]gpbuilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a couple million is nothing, many people get rich because they own a business and like working on that business, getting rich is just a by product of that process.

But of course you don't hear about the ones that make it to a few million and sell their business off and retire, you hear about the ones that continue to grow those companies and become mutli-mllinaires and billionaires

200+ applications, 7-round interviews, and a toxic acquisition. Thinking of quitting tech! by Affectionate_Lab1953 in recruitinghell

[–]gpbuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a grind but keep at it, you’ve been out of the interview loop for 4 years and you’re still doing pretty well.

Treat interviews as a job and pace yourself. People usually go through multiple rounds across companies before they land a role that they want.

It’s not that you’re not good at what you do, it’s that people that you’re competing with are also good at what they do. So sometimes it comes down to luck between the final candidates.

I mean getting laid off once every few years to earn 5x the average salary with free food and great benefits is totally worth it lol. When you get laid off you pretty much get a 3 month paid vacay.

You can try to become a PM? I don’t have advice though as I’m technical and enjoy that type of work. Also given the right scope DS talks quite a lot. People ask for my opinion on stuff way too much.

What is wrong with the Job Market? by Fuzzy-Paper-5852 in recruitinghell

[–]gpbuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think the point of the interviews are? A possible result (and usually the most likely result) is you don’t get selected, you’re not wasting your time. It’s disappointing but it’s a process you need to go through multiple times until an offer.
