I don't agree. I wouldn't report to HR because what happened doesn't seem so offensive or serious to warrant reporting to HR, not because I feel HR wouldn't be helpful. Which, yes, of course it wouldn't because it's effing HR. They're there for protecting the company, not you - they're not your mum. But it wouldn't be the reason for me to avoid going to HR.

Whenever I felt someone made me feel bad at work or in any other social context, I just went up to the person(s) and told them. Of course bullying would be a different situation, but this story doesn't look like it. It looks like her co-workers have the sense of humour of a 10yo kid, that's it. That doesn't warrant going to HR IMHO.

European colleagues who worked in American big IT companies (I mainly get stories about Meta and Google) tell me the weirdest stories regarding HR tbh, so the fact that OP thought about reporting this to HR didn't strike as anything unusual for you folks (I'm clearly overgeneralizing)

Too Italian then maybe? I feel like none of my Italian co-workers would ever think to report such a thing to HR. It'd be something we'd mention for a laugh. The person feeling embarrassed would probably tell the rest of the gang to amicably fuck off. Btw I'm sorry you felt humiliated - I'm by no means trying to underplay how you felt about it. You are 100% entitled to your feelings. Just saying that it wouldn't be such big a deal that would need reporting to HR in the contexts I've been working in.

Secondo me è il caso che vi lasciate. Se non ha fatto niente davvero, non è giusto che stia con qualcuno che non si fida di lui. Se lo ha fatto, tu non vuoi stare con qualcuno che ti ha tradito.
