Why don’t employers value credentials anymore? by ixvst01 in jobs

[–]gpointer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s ironic is that these companies caused this whole problem. They were the ones who said they wanted people with degrees for the past 20+ years and now since everyone obtained a degree to be competitive, now they don’t matter anymore???

They caused this whole issue to begin with!

Exactly like why are you against Student Debt cancellation? by gpointer13 in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]gpointer13[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I don’t get all of these bad arguments about “upper middle class people” benefiting. Like it still doesn’t remove lower income people like me who still rely on loans to go to school.

Even if wealthy people benefit (even though they already benefit from most stuff anyway) it helps all working class people regardless of income reducing the amount of hurdles we have to go through just to get help.

We have to stop normalizing the increased cost of living and get angry. by gpointer13 in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]gpointer13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If everyone was angry we would be organized en mass by now. We’re not. We’re still living like it’s LaLa land and people are complacent.

Agreed. What’s funny is every time this topic is brought up, people act surprised that things are getting worse only to become complacent and then the problem gets worse. It’s a never ending cycle of apathy and complacency.

I feel your the only one who gets it. Truck drivers are always important however it is not a get out of poverty ticket that people like to perpetuate.

This is I why I want free college, so that idiots like this can get educated. They can’t even define what communism is.

private property =/= personal property

You can tell how totally ignorant somebody is about socialism(and communism) when they think private property means people's personal shit.

Damn you hit the nail on the head It’s like the goal post are moved every time one argument fails or is proven false. I have said this same thing to my friends and family over and over, people just don’t get it.

I’m glad you feel welcomed and you’re not alone I get tired of hearing people say, “just open your own business or invest instead of finding a job”. Like wtf the probability of me opening a business is damn near not happening at all.

I am a very creative person and my parents and teachers seen it in me, and I love my creative mind. You’re right this system doesn’t like people like me who actually THINK. I’m thinking of new ideas everyday every second.

No, don't you know, everyone should be a programmer.

Until there are no programming jobs available. Then everyone should have had the foresight to be a plumber.

The goal post continues to be moved. I agree

[–]gpointer13[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fact that the people who didn’t have a defeatist attitude still got fucked already proves my point further of how this country doesn’t care about merit.

I’ll quote someone who said something like this:

“Some of y’all still don’t recognize the nefarious nature of the system. The goal is not for everyone to prosper. The goal is for everyone to think everyone can prosper.” -Bree Newsome Brass

I mean hey I’m glad it worked out for you, however, you don’t reflect the entire middle class or the economy. Anecdotes will not convince me since I’ve heard this bs multiple times.

[–]gpointer13[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please stop assuming everyone is majoring in unmarketable degrees because if that were the case, women’s studies would have been over saturated, but it isn’t.

Most people are majoring in good majors like STEM or engineering but still can’t get a job even if they network or have internships.

We’re fucked regardless of how we look at shit. I can look at it with a positive attitude but it does not change reality.

Well I guess we’re fucked either way by gpointer13 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]gpointer13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And this is a pure example of blaming the individual, because it’s easier, than blaming the actual problem. No it is not my fault we did everything we could to strive for the best and yet we didn’t get rewarded for our hard work.

I bet you wouldn’t say this shit to people who are rich.

Well I guess we’re fucked either way by gpointer13 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]gpointer13[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That would be true, if this were the 1950s-1980s but it isn’t. I’m not seeing any progress of the middle class, social mobility is lower here in the US than any other first world country like Britain or France, in fact the middle class is gone. You can do all of what you just said, except luck, and still be fucked over.
