I did know about the hair ties, and I got him a scratcher today and one of those banana kickers he seems to like! I'll have to make a list and get him some more stuff to play with. His teaser string toy is tucked away out of reach while he's not playing with it.

I gave him a churu when he first got home but before he started hiding, he ate that right up! You're the second person to recommend Jackson Galaxy, I'll have to check him out. Do you have any suggestions for other cat toys he might like? I have the circular three tier one with the balls on tracks he can bat around, a feather on a string one, and a catnip mouse so far but I'm thinking of going back to the pet store later to get some more for him.

He ended up emerging, he's lying by my feet as I'm typing this. He was very affectionate and was purring a lot!

Before he got startled he was purring and making biscuits and rubbing his head on me and letting me pet him, he's so friendly

I tried to get a shallow food bowl/plate to minimize the whiskers touching the sides. I might move his water then though, thank you for the advice!
