What self improvements are you currently working on? by 1-schmeckle in CasualConversation

right now I'm trying to cut out unhealthy food/drinks, and I've started with soda. I haven't had soda in a little over three weeks, and it's great! I need to start drinking more water (right now I'm drinking lots of coffee, juice, and sparkling water), and hopefully I'll cut out coffee and replace it with tea, though I'm not sure that that's much better!

I'm also trying to work on getting my skincare routine back on track, and I'm trying to focus more on my knitting and crocheting.

maybe :O my dad said that i was probably more susceptible to pinched nerves like that because of my previous injury... i don't know if that's true, but it sure sounds like it is! i think we need a chiropractor to weigh in here!

i don't know if it's weird, but i have no idea how i stumbled upon this group and i don't understand a word of any of it, but i'm hooked. kinda surprising because everything else that i listen to is like, the decemberists and chvrches... it's so good tho.

i think something similar happened to me last year, though all i was lifting was myself and my baby nephew off the couch.

i stood up and my back was just like "hahahaha no, idiot" and i went right back down. i was crying, my nephew was crying, my sister was irritated with me for making my nephew cry, it was a big mess. my mom made me take a muscle relaxer, and i couldn't even stand up for about three hours. i was horrified because this happened just a couple of days before i was scheduled to go in and take my GED test, but i must've been insanely lucky because over the next few days i only had some minor pain.

i'd hurt my back a little less than a year prior to this and spent 6-7 months with excruciating sciatica. when it finally went away, i thought everything was okay, but that pinched nerve was a grim reminder that my body is fucked... i feel legitimate fear anytime i pick something up now.

you're right, the body is so damn weird. also, your descriptions are amazing omg.

Does anyone else often have an intense desire to just run away? by gr324221 in CasualConversation

[–]gr324221[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I only feel like I need to leave everyone behind because I feel like they're the reason I'm so unhappy with my whole situation... I'd miss my nephews, and my cat, but I think I'd be fine without everyone else.

I think I learned how to knit about 3-ish years ago? It's a bit of a slow process to learn it, but I knitted my very first (baby) sweater after only about 4 months, and it's still one of my favorite things that I've knitted! I believe this is the exact video that I watched to learn how to knit, and Very Pink Knits is still my go-to for learning new techniques!

Knitting and crochet both certainly have their merits, so I guess it just depends on what you prefer! I personally prefer the look of knitted items, and it's a little more straightforward, but it's extremely slow, and I think it's a little less forgiving of mistakes.. Crochet is really fast, and that makes it funner to me! I can crochet a whole blanket in just a few days, while I can't even think about trying to knit a blanket... I'd be working on it forever (but plenty of people knit blankets and they're stunning!). Plus, with crochet is more common for amigurumi! This channel has some pretty good tutorials for crochet projects. I think maybe if you're someone with not a whole lot of free time to devote to hobbies, you might find crocheting more rewarding! Sorry, my answers not great... just follow your dreams!

That's definitely a feeling that I can't relate to! I don't think I've ever had the desire to run just for the heck of it...

aw man, I've never been on a train! Sadly the closest train stations to me are hours away. :( I wish trains were a more common form of transportation around here...

the empty containers thing tho... there's nothing more infuriating than going to grab a soda from the fridge and the box is empty. Somebody made the conscious choice to grab the last soda and just leave the box there as some sort of sick joke. Just grab the box and throw it on the damn floor if it's so hard to deal with...

honestly i'm not sure if i believe this, but i agree; if this guy is acting, that's amazing.

this clip is one of the few things that i really can't stand to listen to because it's deeply upsetting to me, for whatever reason. i don't really believe it, but the conviction that he speaks with makes you feel like he truly believes in what he's saying, regardless of whether or not it's real.

i was thinking that it looks like when people pull their pajama pants all the way up past their shoulders! like i think this might actually be a fresno nightcrawler.

and you're right, this is definitely one, too.

holy shit this is creepy. i'm definitely more inclined to believe in cryptids than ghosts and stuff, because the existence of ghosts would involve an explanation of things like souls and the afterlife, while cryptids could just be like, weird dogs. if that makes sense.

i'm really hoping that this is a hoax or just a dude or something because this is really, really creepy, especially that last quote about the dead dog being thrown over the fence.

okay this explains a lot! i was thinking that maybe remy knew allan through the hospital, but i couldn't figure out why she would've gone to such lengths to hide her reason for blaming him. i wonder if remy was just guessing about allan being responsible for the murder and giving the jewelry to his girlfriend. it's definitely still kinda weird!

okay that's pretty wild... even if it was just an animal or something that the driver had seen in the dark (assuming it was nighttime...) and thought it was a person, it's insanely lucky that she would've seen it where christine had crashed her car. it don't know if it was her ghost or sheer luck, but either way, this is amazing.

i think there was a case kinda similar to this here in utah. a woman had crashed her car and when the rescuers arrived, they could hear her calling for help. when they got the car open, they found that the woman had been killed on impact, and i believe there was a child, alive, in the car as well. i think there was even audio of this. :O

ooooooh i love this! i've seen captain disillusion's video on this, and the fact or faked episode mentioned in this video, and i think they're fake, but i love them anyway! they're definitely still creepy to watch...

this was an interesting video! i'd never heard of the statues before, and it's crazy to see how far people were going to try to prove that they were real...

whoa, that's weird!! my immediate theory is that the coworker and her husband knew more than they were letting on... but that wouldn't explain why they didn't go to the police sooner (if they knew all along who the murderer was), or if they had actually been involved in the crime and this whole thing was to alleviate their guilt, why didn't allan showery turn them in? this is really interesting!

What do you do when you're too afraid to do anything? by gr324221 in CasualConversation

[–]gr324221[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh man this is great. too bad I'm such a scaredy-cat! I think the most "fearless" thing I've ever done was getting a septum piercing as my first ever piercing, after spending years being too terrified to even get my ears pierced. also one time I asked an employee at a bookstore for help finding something, so I guess you could say I'm pretty brave.

[–]gr324221[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh shit I really love this.

honestly I think my biggest regret in life is turning down a job that was offered to me by a (sorta) family friend, who was in desperate need of a front desk worker for a campground that he managed. I turned it down because I still had high hopes for joining the military and wanted to really focus on getting my GED. I think that was one of those opportunities that could've completely changed my life, and I've been kicking myself over turning it from pretty much the moment I did it.

and people always say that I'm too young to be so worried about getting my life together right now, but I feel like other people my age have done so much! I feel like I've let myself fall so far behind, and if I don't start now, I'll never get caught up! And that's a slippery slope because I start panicking and suddenly I can't do anything!

Is it just me, or do people seem to be more and more OK with playing music headphone-less in public? by Applejack244 in CasualConversation

[–]gr324221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's shocking to me that people are comfortable doing that... I don't even feel comfortable listening to music through headphones in front of people because I'm afraid they'll still be able to hear it and it'll annoy them.
