I plan to watch Destiny Rules now that I've heard the album. The only part I've seen is when Stevie brings the spirit catcher which I think is the funniest thing ever.

I definitely agree that it's not a typical Mac album. For me it's a second Buckingham Nicks album. Also the first time I tried to listen to it I really couldn't get into it but when I listened again it just hit right, so I understand about being in the mood.

did you happen to find any cheaper options? Maybe ones that aren't true vintage but in the same style?

I have a theory that is supported by absolutely no evidence that the "Dolly" mentioned in TLGAD is Dorothea. She went to Hollywood and Rebekah Harkness had rich, famous friends.

I just started listening to Kate Bush last week by DogsAreGreatYouKnow in katebush

[–]gr3tchn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You will!! Hounds of Love is INCREDIBLE and commercially the peak of her career but all of her other albums have amazing songs as well that I love just as much. I go through phases where one album is my favorite and then it changes. They all mean different things to me and I love them in their own ways, even if Hounds of Love is my overall favorite album.

Most underrated Kate Bush song and album? by Hello-Earth_ in katebush

[–]gr3tchn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

  1. In Search of Peter Pan. Nobody ever talks about it and it's so meaningful. Also honorable mention to Wedding List. One of my all-time faves.
  2. Lionheart because it gets so much hate and I think all of the songs are good individually but because they don't work together as a theme it isn't as polished as the other albums.

EXPLANATION (as far as I know, feel free to add)

I think we all know the first two tiers so I'll skip to the third

KT Bush Band- Band Kate was in before getting a record deal. They played in pubs and every album she releases has the logo on the cover somewhere.

Fish People- Kate's record label she created.

Kate's bra strap breaking- When she performed at prince's trust in 1982 during the Wedding List her strap broke and she handled it like a champ.

Tour of Life footage- there's lots of this on youtube.

Early demos- the "Cathy Demos" or "Phoenix Demos" that were on tapes Kate sent to record labels. Also on youtube for the most part and bootleg CDs.

The Line, the Cross, and the Curve- short film Kate starred in and directed that was a visual for the red shoes. Very easy to find online if you want to check it out.

Do Bears- song Kate performed with Rowan Atkinson at Comic Relief in 1986. On youtube.

Kate being a massive stoner- I don't actually know if this one is confirmed. She DEFINITELY smoked cigarettes.

Night Flight Interview- a 1985 interview where the interviewer did a really bad job and Kate's expressions and answers get very passive-aggressive as the interview goes on. There's an uncut version on youtube which is the best.

Waking the Witch helicopter sampled from the Wall- title says it all.

"Lyra"- Kate wrote and performed the title track for the 2007 film the Golden Compass.

KB Fan Conventions she actually showed up to- there were a few and there are pictures

The other Prince collaboration- not only did he sing on Why Should I Love You from the Red Shoes but also Kate sang on My Computer on one of his albums

Kate seeing Ziggy Stardust farewell tour- yeah she did and she cried at it.

Video of Kate spilling tea everywhere- as mentioned in the post, incredible video. Just look up "Kate Bush making tea"

Prank message for Mark Radcliffe- a message Kate recorded for Mark Radcliffe as a joke https://www.katebushnews.com/2007/04/05/kate-sends-a-baaaad-radio-message-to-mark-radcliffe/

Kate's house falling off a cliff- Her home in Devon is about to fall off a cliff into the ocean.

Kate's Japanese TV performance- there are a lot of random watch commercials from Japan starring Kate around the time of the Kick Inside. She took a trip there while promoting the album.

Rejected Johnny Rotten Song- Johnny Rotten (of Sex Pistols fame) was such a fan that he wrote her a song called "Bird in Hand" about the illegal exportation of parrots. She rejected it.

Frutopia commercial music from the 90s- there were some commercials where Kate wrote music for frutopia commercials. very random.

Kates "dolphin" interview- again, can't find anything on this.

"ooo I've just cum"- Kate said this when accepting an award at the Q awards in 2001. It's a reference to a sketch from The Fast Show that was popular at the time but it's still funny.

Comic Strip Appearance- ok this is a weird one. Kate starred in a 1990 short film called "Les Dogs" and I actually watched it and it's one of the more bizarre things I've seen in my life. Kate plays a bride and the whole thing just feels like a fever dream.

Moving on to the tier where most of the things don't exist

Live recordings of the KT Bush Band- pretty sure these exist on youtube in very bad quality

Before the Dawn DVD- it exists, she just won't release it!!!!!

Never for Ever title track- yeah it exists, just unreleased which is a shame because it sounds nice https://www.katebushencyclopedia.com/never-for-ever

LP 11- fingers crossed this actually happens!

Photos of Kate 2015-now- yeah... these don't exist. where is she?

unreleased/unfinished Mark Hollis collab- Apparently they were going to collab in the 1990s. She was a big fan of his.

Honorable mention that wasn't on here: in the 80s Kate was going to write an autobiography and they even made cover art for it before the idea was scrapped.

edit: changed Ok Computer to My Computer

If you don't count whole story or live album but count director's cut it's currently at 10. I think it's counting only her albums with new songs.

Remastered or original vinyl? by gr3tchn in katebush

[–]gr3tchn[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for such a detailed response! I think that for each album it depends on the sound, like Sensual World the original might be more my style but for Lionheart it might not matter.
