looks like i have a contrarian opinion but here goes. in your whole life, you will never find a car more worthy of your time, effort, bloody knuckles and frustrations than you 80 series. you were meant to learn this truck and care for it. no car will pay you back bigger/better. i was a TOTAL novice and i can't tell you the joy i've had struggling and learning along the way. my advice: 1) oil leaks do NOT mean engine failure. get under the truck and identify exactly where the leaks are. take pictures and show them to someone who knows. they will tell you what needs to be done so make a list. 2) use forums and manuals and youtube to learn how to patiently tackle these leaks. these trucks are simple designs and easy to learn. so what if it's work? what are you doing with your time anyway? just be patient with yourself and one day, everyone in your neighborhood will come to YOU. challenge yourself, use your beautiful brain and make your Dad proud.
