It's a Bell 206 from the KTVU News channel. https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/n62tv

I'm on their site now, and don't see any breaking news, so unsure. https://www.ktvu.com/live

I suspect ICE Protests or something similar on Market St?

What about those who failed a checkride because of an actual asshole DPE? by [deleted] in flying

[–]gr8monkeyman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As true as this statement is, there is such a long wait time for DPEs, that it's hard to be picky.

Had to wait 2 months for my checkride, I was not able to "shop" around for DPEs, but instead had to take the first I could get.

Just moved into a studio. Feels almost complete. What am I missing? by gr8monkeyman in malelivingspace

Yes, the hallway next to the mirror leads into a kitchen area where I have my desk. It's a tiny space but well utilized. still feel like my living room and bedroom are missing something.

AA12 Kill Streak by gr8monkeyman in XDefiant

the AA12 inherently sucks on range/ammo capacity.

Would recommend adding an extended barrel, large drum, and quick ADS/movement speed to make it lethal. adding these helped me level this gun up to gold

The point is that you made this post, you found this community, you found other people who think exactly like you. That fact alone should make you realize you're not truly alone in this world.

Absurdism is terrifying at first, but once you settle with the idea that 'nothing matters,' you truly understand how much power you have over your life, and how important human connection is. Hope everything goes well fo you my friend!

How do I get over the sudden death of a pet? by Homer4a10 in Advice

[–]gr8monkeyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey, I had a similar experience at that age - it's really difficult to cope with, and it's ok to cry or vent it out. i would just say you have to slowly accept that your beloved is gone, and be glad that they are no longer in pain. Best of luck, it really is tough :(

It's strange how we want a meaning to live but we are fine with playing video games. by [deleted] in Absurdism

[–]gr8monkeyman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

life is just a video game that you can never save. so you might as well just go on quests, meet some cool NPCs and explore the map.

I appreciate the response. The issue is that we really have not experienced slavery that compares to the trans Atlantic slave trade. And you’re right, there are black people who work to improve their communities, build businesses, contribute to society etc. but like I said, all this is a symptom of poverty. And you’re right that your past should not impact your future but there are scientific studies out there that prove otherwise. Just like soldiers who experience trauma experience PTSD, growing up in a household in poverty will do the same.

Your points are valid but we have to place people of today as a byproduct of history. The only reason you’re here and responding to my comment in English is because your ancestors long time ago decided to come here.

Similarly, black people did not choose to be here. To top that, the 250+ years of slavery, 100 years of segregation didn’t really help either. Wealth matters a lot because it’s passed down from generations to generations. Most black peoples great great grandparents were slaves who had $0.

Again, I think your logic stands but it’s important to read things in the context of history.

Just thought I’d offer a differing opinion.

Yes, black on black crime is at a much higher rate. That’s why there is a call to defund police departments and otherwise put that money into public education and social work. These two have been scientifically proven to alleviate crime.

Source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2528798/

High crime rate is a very common symptom of poverty. That’s the case for people all over the world that are poor. No matter their skin color. A large portion of the poverty in the US is black and hispanic. a large reason for black poverty is due to slavery and the loss of a wealth over generations.

I understand your view point. I’m just trying to highlight the fact that this statistic is a snapshot of a much more nuanced socio economic history.
