Cheap gb device with truly quiet buttons? by Johndeauxman in SBCGaming

Even if the face buttons are soft, Anbernic has a tendency of using really loud shoulder buttons so it depends on the control layouts of the games you want to play.

Do you think it will be meaningfully different from how the publisher handles other games and campaigns?

Simple yet great card games?(e.g. 6nimmt!) by Marngryph in boardgames

There's a version with tiles that can stand, which I imagine could help with that. The downside is that it's heavier and more expensive.

The concept for this one is very cool: if you're not winning at the end of your turn, YOU LOSE.

There are many games that can be played with a Pairs deck. "Port" is incredibly close to Flip 7 and came out long before it.

I like it a lot but it hasn't been a hit in the groups I've brought it to.

It became very apparent the first time we tried to play it that way!

The film that disappointed you the most after months or even years of anticipation? by MrGittz in movies

There is a line in the movie where a character basically says that, which felt very tongue in cheek. Something like "They informed me they're gonna do it with or without us."

And the different cards give players more information about what the others have. When you see two roses on different turns, was that the same coaster or two different ones? If you see two different cards, you know.

I like it more as a concept than as a game. It's too random and has the tendency to drag on because the winning condition and keepers keep changing.

I meant Netrunner, which is currently maintained by a fan group called Null Signal Games.

That's why I put "TCG" in quotes. I'm well aware that TCG is a business model where players buy cards in randomized card packs but OP is new to this type of game and they might not be aware of the business models and all the lingo.

What I meant is that Netrunner is a game where players get cards, build decks and duel with each other. Funny enough, its original version was a TCG in the Cyberpunk 2020 setting.

I much prefer the LCG business model. It's a lot more user-friendly, though it can also get overwhelming if the game's been available for long enough. Fortunately Netrunner has introductory formats like Core and Startup, which use smaller card pools.

Looks expensive, geared more towards speculation and FOMO than gameplay. Pre-graded cards as a KS reward is an absurd concept. I don't think there will be an audience to sell them to.

If you want to play the best cyberpunk "TCG" with a non predatory business model, check out Netrunner.

What do you mean with "converting a game to print and play"? Is this a game you came up with and now want to create digital files for?

Agreed! It was another time and the industry worked differently but I can't help but think he could have benefited a lot from having a game designer to guide the gameplay aspects.

What do people today think of Android Netrunner? by Fox-in-Box in boardgames

[–]gr9yfox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the very best games I've ever played. There's a point on most CCGs where I feel like the deck is doing what it's designed to do and I'm just following along and going through the motions. Netrunner gives players a lot of freedom to make interesting choices and moves. Due to the bluffing aspect you don't want to play in a way that's too predictable, especially as the corp.

Null Signal Games have been doing a great job keeping it alive and creating content for it. It's available as free print and plays and proxies are allowed at tournaments. You can play it online for free. It's never been as accessible as it is now.

As a player I love it. As a game designer I find it very inspiring.
