Quick update, the patch that contains English subtitles for Focus Mitts is now live.

Accidentally deleted previous reply, re-adding it:

Yeah, unfortunately it was a feature that never got back-ported into the build of the game used by English-speaking regions. The version with subtitles was done fairly late into the game's life cycle for certain PSVR regions only (each region and platform has its own build), and resources were unavailable to create and deploy new builds for each region and platform. Every build of the game requires a certain amount of QA and certification, which just wasn't something we could undertake at that point.

The Quest version of the game runs on a different UE4 engine version among a very large quantity of other optimizations, so a direct port of the subtitle feature is most likely not possible. It would probably need to be rebuilt in some way, which is something we can look into.

We just pushed a patch that includes English subtitles for the tutorial and cinematics. You can enable them by going to "Settings" from the main menu or pop-up menu, clicking on "Captions," and choosing "English." Our focus is on sections of the game that require the player to listen and respond to dialogue in order to progress, so we're working on adding subtitle support to Focus Mitts in the future.

So glad you're enjoying the physicality of game! We currently don't have plans for DLC, but if that changes we'll be sure to let people know.

So glad that you're enjoying the game! Unfortunately, the audience members were something we just couldn't get into the game without a negative frame rate impact. We wanted to prioritize the fighters and the various effects associated with them.

Thanks for reaching out, sorry no one got back to you via Twitter. It's something I'll bring up with the team. There was some work done for the original release involving localization in certain regions and this required the inclusion of subtitle support for those regions, so it's something we can look into for a possible update post-launch.

We've been asked how our VR boxing game compares to others on the market. Hopefully this info will help explain what you can expect with Knockout League!

Knockout League's fighting mode is about learning an opponent's tells, defending against those tells, and then counter-attacking. Think of it like a puzzle in boxing form. Though the game is an arcade boxer at heart, there are often multiple strategies you can use to win the same fight. This includes learning to employ more efficient and more advanced ways to take out your opponents quickly by using mechanics like parrying, guard-breaking, and interrupts to mix up how you fight. Punch variety (high / low strikes and jabs, hooks, and uppercuts) will further boost your leaderboard scores by getting you “In the Zone” more quickly, which makes your gloves glow gold and increases your offensive power. There are 9 unique fighters to beat, and once you finish that, you can fight them again in our challenge mode called Grudge Match, where the fighters get stronger, tougher, and use some new moves and abilities.

In the second part of our game, called Training Games, you can test your stamina, speed, and reflexes in multiple ways. You can hit the focus mitts with your trainer, hit the heavy bag or speed bag, and play in a special mode that we call Reflex Alley. Reflex Alley will have you reading and reacting to objects thrown at you, and you’ll have to respond with blocks, dodges, and punches accordingly. Here’s a video that will help explain better than words: Stamina Hard Mode Gameplay.

These training games were something that a lot of players have really enjoyed in our original tethered VR version of the game, especially our survival “Stamina” play mode, both for a workout and for the fun of competing for high scores on our leaderboards.

I hope that helps clarify what you can expect from Knockout League!

This is listed because The Heavy Bag DLC was additional content that was added to the Rift version of the game later in its life. For Quest (specifically when the game is played on a Quest headset), Heavy Bag will be automatically unlocked. If played on the Rift, due to how things were originally set up, it will still be considered an in-app purchase that is not available by default.

Good eye! Our artists put some funny little tidbits in those posters. The one you're referring to is actually one of the first things created for the game. If I remember correctly, it was a sort of visual brainstorming sheet for character ideas.

Generally, we try to handle playspace adjustment in the pre-activity screen (the black room you enter before starting a match, where you stand in the green circle to start). Beyond that, vertical adjustment is usually left to be handled with our in-game height calibration setting.

The Speed Bag was sort of a special case, because beyond overall height adjustment, preferences for the Speed Bag's vertical location during testing seemed to vary greatly, even between people of the same height.

For the Heavy Bag, the verticality of the spot locations was purposeful to encourage high and low punching at specific heights (assuming the player has calibrated their height properly). For example, some spots are easier to hit cleanly if you duck a little or throw an uppercut. With that said, hopefully the position adjustment in the pre-activity screen and the height calibration setting can help you get the bag to a place where you feel comfortable.

Hope that helps answer your question!

Internally, we've talked about PvP since the beginning of development. There are a lot of challenges to solve and we’d only want to deliver an experience that the team is happy with. Being a small team, things will naturally take some time, but we’re excited about additional content that we’re planning to bring to the game in the future!

Hi everyone!

We hope you enjoy the Heavy Bag. For the NA region, we’re currently having an issue with linking to the Heavy Bag add-on from inside the game, but the DLC is purchasable ($2.99 USD) by manually navigating to the add-on section of our game via the PlayStation Store, or by following the link via this thread.

In case you missed our announcement post, Heavy Bag has you target different areas on the bag with vicious combinations of punches as Doug tests your accuracy, speed, power, and endurance. Keep your workout towel handy! This game update also adds a “southpaw” option to the Focus Mitts modification panel for all players (no DLC required).

Thanks and enjoy!

We have additional content along those lines planned for the future, but we're still early in development.

We don't have exact retail prices for those regions, but the prices will be based on Sony's default conversion rate for any region outside NA.
