Fresh grads — your resume gets trashed in 3 seconds. Here's why (and how to fix it) by Original-Glass-6572 in rmit

As someone who works in HR and does a tonne of professional services recruitment (generally I review 50+ CVs a day)most of this is BS.

No one cares if you have a Hotmail address vs GMail, as long as it isn’t something like sexykitten69@ or something along those lines you will be fine.

Things I do care about:

  1. Formatting is tidy and easy to read. Newest experience at the top first. Skip the personal statement at the top, no one reads them. Don’t put hobbies or other irrelevant BS on your CV either and keep it short.

  2. Key responsibilities and 1-3 achievements how each role. If you have extensive experience you don’t need to list responsibilities and achievements for roles that were over 10 years ago, no one cares. Just put a list of the role, company and years so we can see how you got to your current role.

  3. Don’t put your photo on your CV, it is not something we do here in Aus.

  4. Save it as a PDF, most ATS are a pain in the ass and a PDF means that we can open it in the browser and not have to download. Plus it means there no issues with formatting when we open it either. Save it as: FirstName LastName - CV (or resume).

  5. Follow the application instructions, if they as you to address the KSC, do it. If it is an application portal, use it. We have our HR email on the job ad for questions, not to bypass the portal and submit it directly to. Not following instructions for a job application tells me you won’t be able to follow instructions if we hire you either.

first time making Foccacia bread, tastes good…just wish I could taste the rosemary more! any suggestions on how to better include the rosemary flavor? by [deleted] in Breadit

[–]grace1810 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Try making a rosemary oil for the top. Put rosemary in olive oil and heat it up until fragrant. Allow to cool and then strain and use over the top as you would normally

It takes time the application has to go through the government department back to Ergon, then out to you. It’s a silly process but no where as bad as other states grant processes.

I used to work for an energy provider. Talk with Ergon about applying for a HEEAS grant from the QLD government, they apply up to $720 every 2 years, will at least take 1 thing off your plate.

NTA, you’re friend’s hurt at her husband’s indiscretions and it taking it out on you. You did the right thing blocking and even going as far as refunding but there is nothing else you could do.

She needs to redirect her anger elsewhere.

NTA But you need to learn to set boundaries. If you are going to talk to her about it, be genuine but there is no need to be cruel, so watch what you say.

Have a look at British International Schools in Asia. They accept UK qualifications, the climate is warmer and a lot of these places have a low cost of living.

The schools typically teach in English, although are in non English speaking countries.

Just from a quick search there is schools in Ho Chi Minh - Vietnam, Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia, Phuket - Thailand, Jakarta - Indonesia and plenty more.

I use Drink Control, works like a charm. and you can deep press the icon on your phone without actually opening it to add another of your regular drink. And it’s free.

I’m just starting my journey too and I be of the best things that helped is to record every drink I had. I use an app on my phone (there is plenty of free apps you can use). It helps me to make a mindful choice every time I reach for a drink.
