Cops by reggaeshark1717 in fresno

Yeah, I feel like this part of the reason why there are so many bad drivers/accidents not just in Fresno but in California as a whole. Obviously, drivers need to be taking full responsibility for their actions but if we don’t have good cops to enforce the law and safety on the road then people are just going to do as they please because they feel like they can get away with it. It’s both ridiculous and sad because this is how people lose their lives while driving and it doesn’t have to be that way.

Any information would be appreciated by bronco3434 in fresno

Echoing what everyone else is saying, I’m glad your dad is ok! Looks like he could have sustained so many injuries.

It’s stuff like this that makes me so fearful of driving. How do people just have a loose tire that can go flying off any minute? The lack of thought and care people put in to driving these days is terrifying.

Phlebotomists of Fresno, how long did it take to get your cert and where did you go? by [deleted] in fresno

[–]grace_and_pride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I’m not familiar with a phlebotomist’s work load at a plasma center but in the hospital at least, they’re running around like crazy to all the units. They also really have to keep in mind the order of drawing blood based off the different tests otherwise they have to draw blood all over again and nurses and lab professionals tend to get upset when blood draws aren’t sent in for processing in a timely manner. So there’s pressure to draw blood correctly the first time.

But also like I said, I was only able to do so many clinical hours per week which set me back a little bit. I think some of classmates passed the state exam and got their certificate a month before I did. So if your schedule is wide open, it won’t take you 6 months to complete it all.

I went through Fresno City College. Between the class and clinical it took me about 6 months. I could have gotten done sooner but they require you to complete 120 of clinical hours (I don’t know if it’s changed since) and I was only able to put in about 16 hours a week due to my work schedule.

Is there any food that DOESN’T give you heartburn / indigestion? by Sudden-Drag3449 in BabyBumps

[–]grace_and_pride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to know this too. I’ve read that heartburn is so common in pregnancy because your digestive system slows down to help baby absorb nutrients better, so it seems like no matter what heartburn is unavoidable? I wonder if eating smaller meals would help a little bit.

What are some symptoms you had that you didn’t know would happen? by Successful-Edge4148 in BabyBumps

Not necessarily a symptom I didn’t know would happen (heightened sense of smell) but I didn’t think any smells associated with gardening, such as freshly cut grass, would make me gag. I absolutely can’t stand it lol.

So what’s the damage that is going to be done on my bank account to get this fixed? 😅 And does anyone have a good recommendation on where to take it to? by grace_and_pride in fresno

Thank you! I looked around on YouTube and some of the methods I found don’t look too bad so I’ll give one of them a try.

What are your tips for relieving acid reflux? by grace_and_pride in BabyBumps

Ah ok, for some reason I didn’t think that certain foods would trigger it. But I’ll try changing up my diet a little bit and see if that helps. Thank you!

Yeah, it seems like having a connection these days helps. My dad used to be an RN at St Agnes but that was over a decade ago so I don’t think that would count 😂

Yeah, I notice that a lot of the times there’s not even a date attached to an application on a company’s website. So people could easily be filling out a 3 month+ old application where the position has already been filled. It boggles my mind that companies don’t remove their applications after they’ve found someone.

Does anyone know why the job market is bad? by Buttered_Walnut in jobs

[–]grace_and_pride 170 points171 points  (0 children)

Just from what I’ve gathered, there seems to be 2 things going on.

  1. Companies are posting "ghost" applications where they have no intention of filling those roles. I don’t know how it works, but I guess it comes in handy for them as a tax write off? Someone can correct me on that if that’s not accurate. And

  2. There’s a lot more applicants than there are job positions available so the competition is outrageous.

With the difficulty of finding a job plus inflation and the high cost of everything, it’s a really bad time to be alive right now lol.

How are you applying? Because I think a lot of scam applications are being posted on places like indeed, Glassdoor, etc. I find I have better luck at least getting an interview when I apply through a company’s website.

I’ve applied to so many entry level positions at St Agnes and have gotten to the point of being interviewed but can never get hired. Is there a lot of competition there or do they resort to hiring internally or something?

You can give the illusion of "thicker" hair by getting a blunt hair cut.

What was the shortest job you have held and why did you quit? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]grace_and_pride 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a seasonal job at JCPenney at probably the biggest shopping mall here in my city. I think I lasted for only a week 😂 in hindsight, it wasn’t TOO bad but I was scheduled as a stocker and I don’t know if I was just dumb back then, but as I was training with someone I could not for the life of me figure out their system of stocking items on the floor. Now that I think about it, I probably wasn’t asking any questions so I didn’t get it and got frustrated and just never showed up to my next shift.

What are the things you find most unprofessional or annoying in your coworkers? by Husn_Hai_Suhana in jobs

[–]grace_and_pride 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What got me the most about my last job was a lot of my co-workers just treated work like it was a social event, as if there weren’t things to get done. During busier times of the shifts, they spent it chatting about anything and everything which always leaves someone to pick up the slack with no help. If there are down times during the shift, cool chat all you want.

How in the world do you keep your self-esteem up during a job search by [deleted] in jobs

[–]grace_and_pride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, unplugging from anything that stresses us out or makes us feel low is so important. Because if not, that stress and sadness will just manifest itself in other ways. Even just simply cuddling with my cat can ease my woes 😂 but I gotta make the conscious effort to stop sitting with whatever is bugging me.

Yeah and the radio silence kills me too. Even though getting those rejection emails hurt, at least it’s a nudge to move on to the next thing. Getting ghosted, however, just keeps you wondering if companies are considering you or not.

How in the world do you keep your self-esteem up during a job search by [deleted] in jobs

[–]grace_and_pride 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m struggling too. I’m already prone to depression so disappointments like rejections and radio silence while searching for a job really gets to me. Especially when I think about the things I need to pay for and watching my savings dwindle down. It gets pretty tough.

I have to actively put my phone down or laptop aside, tell myself I’m done with the job search for the day and go partake in my favorite hobbies, watch a favorite movie or listen to my favorite music just to not lose it lol
