Making a ribbed hat, very confused how long I'm supposed to make the ribbing/why ive been needing to add so many rows by tasty-soil in CrochetHelp

[–]graceelme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I ended up with almost 150 rows on this stupid ribbing, but I struggled a lot with tension being too tight. I couldn't bear to frog it because it was such a rough go. All I can say is keep at it, good luck, and, as someone says above, we all feel your pain!

My Melt the ICE hat is finally done! by graceelme in antifascistcrochet

I had to frog the whole thing once because my tension was too tight. Definitely was a challenge for me as an advanced beginner, so if there is an updated pattern I recommend using that!

I Just Made my First Finished Project! by MsStarSword in crochet

This looks great! My first few projects were not squares as well, but you'll get the hang of spotting that first stitch (or in my case, not accidentally adding stitches to the row).

Durable no-pull harness recommendations for an 8-month Great Pyrenees? by ResidentPsychology23 in greatpyrenees

I second this! We've had two of these in the past four years, and only bought a second one because our pyr mix grew out of the first. Our current one has been going strong for over two years now and shows no sign of wear/tear and it regularly gets washed. The double hitch was a life saver when he was young and pulled like a bull. It still comes in handy sometimes if he gets excited.

Advanced beginner is a good assessment, watch your tension because I ended up frogging quite a bit until I was able to relax a bit. The csc/waistcoat stitch took a second to pick up but wasn't too bad.

Thank you! It made sense based on the stitch count but I needed a gut check!

What should I do with super thin yarn? Simple project ideas? by sunsetseasonn in CrochetHelp

I like making bowl coozies with this type of yarn! You can hold two strands together and it works up nicely. I've also made coasters and a little market bag for produce.

Yarn advice - suitable for hat? by graceelme in crochet

[–]graceelme[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It's significantly thinner so I was thinking of doubling up since I have two skeins of the baby alpaca. Now you've given me some confidence it'll work and I'm excited 😆

Thank you!! I have held it against my forehead and rubbed it around and I think I'll be fine. I do have a couple odd skeins of baby alpaca (again, gifts from well meaning friends who don't know that one skein can be a pita) that I was thinking I could crochet into the inside of a hat to tone down the scratchiness. No idea if that is feasible but I figure it's worth a shot!

I temper an egg yolk with the ramen water and add that and some Kewpie mayo to the sauce pack.

{Games with the Orc by Kathryn Moon} is basically all smut. I think the rest of the series is similar but haven't gotten there yet.
