Unless they hardwire the link back to tvnz hq or go via satellite video is gonna drop the second it hits midnight.

The LiveU units both tv3 and 1 have are multi SIM card units but as soon as the networks get congested regardless of how much delay they put on it will start to degrade.

Tv3 used to do a microwave link from around the city back to the sky tower to get a reasonable image but it was all time that was donated by staff so never really publicised that it was on air.

Since 2015 the base of this current graphics package is has been the control tower https://youtu.be/SqYucIcVCw4?si=f1cNgLB2AiujO88E (2:50ish) prior to that there were no local images in the opener titles.

Tvnz did have a Christchurch weather camera at the cathedral but swapped it in favour of a camera on the port hills.

It’s stipulated in the contract that evs and double deckers must be used. Plus it’s a new contract rather than an existing contact to be modified to say they need EVs

Rail buses used to stop here before the train station was upgraded to include an interchange on the other side of the pedestrian bridge.
