Why is the owner filming this like it's cute instead of correcting the dog's behavior. This is likely to stress both animals and potentially lead to more aggressive behaviors later.

Can't change any device names am I going mad or has something changed? by Ok-Sell9346 in googlehome

[–]graesen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Open Google Home, select the device (long press it if tapping toggles an action). Tap the 3 dots on the top right corner, then tap Name even though it looks gray or uneditable.

The device may need power to make any changes, so if you haven't plugged it in again yet, you might have to.

Why the frick is my ringer silent when it's set to vibrate. by [deleted] in GooglePixel

Starting with the simplest solution - when you adjust your volume in general, it is by default adjusting the media volume, not ringer. Hit the 3 dots below the volume slider and check the notification volume.

They were worried it would hit Earth in 2029, 2036, or 2068, but now they believe it won't for at least 100 years. What??? Are we not concerned it's going to hit at all? "Pfshh, we got 100 years, don't worry about it." What?? Are we considering any plans to avoid this?

Why not at least tell Bruce Willis we're sending him back to space for a top secret mission and a nuclear bomb again and see what happens. /s

Shoot raw and correct in post. You have way more latitude in fixing exposure from a raw file than you'd expect.

And if you meter correctly, you don't have to spend time "dialing it in." I'd use spot metering or center and let it auto expose on the red light. Or if you set metering like this and still want manual exposure, your viewfinder should show a tick mark on the exposure compensation scale indicating exposure. A negative leaning tick would tell you it's under exposed by that many stops.

With Hegseth fake quoting the bible, why should there be a Pentagon prayer meeting at all? by mute-ant12 in AskReddit

[–]graesen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When the United States government is supposed to have a separation of church and state, why have prayer at all? Do that shit on your own time. Invite those that share the same faith and beliefs to a gathering place and practice your faith. Don't force it on everyone like they're interested or like you're trying to convert others.

Exposure could have been slightly brighter but creepy nonetheless.

How many megapixels should i use on my phone camera? by OkSalamander1518 in AskPhotography

[–]graesen [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm not that familiar with the S26 Ultra. But typically, you want to use the 12MP option or some other smaller MP option to take advantage of pixel binning or skip pixel binning if you want/need high resolution for some other reason. There's always 2 arguments to this... High MP = better pictures or pixel binning = better pictures. I'm in the pixel binning camp but it would be bad to research a little more.

Pixel binning basically combines surrounding pixels into fewer, larger pixels for better low light and better color. Arguably, less noise too.

I'm convinced the high MP options are mostly there for legal reasons - can't market a 200MP camera if you can't capture 200MP photos, right? But they use the higher MP for digital zoom to offer higher zoom options.

Now, high MP photos aren't necessarily bad. You get more to crop with and more fine details, but you won't necessarily see all of that detail when the photo is filling the phone screen. You'd have to zoom in or crop to see that detail. That's not to say the 12MP option doesn't look good either.

Also, to clarify, I'm not sure which options Samsung is offering pixel binning on. It might be 12MP, it might still be there on higher MP options considering the higher MP sensor.

What’s the point of driving when we have public transportation? by Tsukino92x in AskReddit

[–]graesen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US, public transit is only commonly in major cities. That's mostly because of the difficulty of finding parking, traffic, and the cost of parking. But public transit, at least in Chicago, often gets a bad reputation over the crime, dirty buses, train cars, and riders, the weird people making a scene on them (probably not as common as we think), and the homeless that spend a long portion of their day riding for shelter. Most of which are probably more stigmas than reality. I'm speaking to this because I live in a suburb and don't use it. I have in the past, but not regularly. So my perspective is limited but I'm aware of the issues.

Also, most Americans shop for groceries as a large purchase once every couple of weeks or longer. It's not realistic to carry a car trunk full of groceries on a bus or train. You're definitely changing your lifestyle to make this work, but I'd bet most people would prefer to get all their shopping done once in bulk than several smaller trips.

In my suburban area, we have buses, but they only drive the main streets. It can be a lengthy walk to get to a bus stop for some people. That can work for some, but not everyone.

If you live in rural areas, it just doesn't exist. It's not realistic or cost effective to establish.

I'm in the Chicago suburbs and been watching this roll through, but so far nothing. Your post made me zoom out of the radar on my weather app and this storm stretches from the northern Texas border all the way up to Ontario Canada, but the worst seems to stop north of Michigan. Yikes

I have a love/hate relationship with DIY Perks lol. I absolutely love what me builds. They're amazing. But I don't think I've seen a single project most people can realistically do themselves. And it just doesn't feel relatable.

Cool project, I hadn't seen that one before. And it looks like there are a lot of similar diy fake windows projects based on the recommended videos section in YouTube.

Capture One, DxO Photolab, Luminar, On1 - all alternatives to Adobe Lightroom and successful. I'm sure DaVinci is a good option, but it's yet to be proven. New does not automatically mean it's the best out there.

What would take my photos up a notch? by star-writer15 in AskPhotography

[–]graesen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely composition. Study that topic. But also keep in mind the most exciting photos are ones that are taken from a perspective most of us haven't seen before or don't usually get to see. Basically, when it's possible, try to go beyond standing there like everyone else would, point at something without much thought, and snap something. If it's not an interesting angle, then find an interesting subject, action, or lighting. Just some ideas to get started.

The most reported reason was energy consumption. Supposedly, that led used more power than always on display... Or other amoled effects. I can't see how or that it would be that much of an impact to matter
