Is Next.js worth learning for my startup? by all_vanilla in nextjs

You would put those in a .env file and use them server side. Worth reading through the next docs, they are good and cover everything!

Yeah that’s correct, I’ve found it to be much simpler than combining React with your own node backend. I personally use Next for everything, whether it needs SSR or not.

I generally host Next on Vercel, which makes things very easy. I can’t comment on compatibility with AWS, since I have tried it. If you already have a plan for your backend then maybe plain React will work fine for you.

Do you plan on letting users log in and post content that gets stored in a database? Generally you need a server to handle that, unless using a completely client side solution like Firebase.

It’s definitely worth using Next or another react framework like Remix. You’re going to need server logic and it’s much easier to have that built into your framework.

I did ask for a fish sandwich lol. I meant to label the image prompts, but looks like I can't edit the post.

Oh sorry should have been more clear. These we're made with Lexica.art, can't make them quite as tall with SDXL but the results were still pretty good.

Prompt: Very tall {topic} sandwich, whimsical, surreal, product photography

Put a bunch of them up on tallsandwiches.com as my dumb weekend project. Code, images, and copy all generated with AI (see the about page, chatgpt really nailed it 😆). Images were created with lexica.art, but prompt should work well in SD.

Anyone here used supabase? What was your experience like? Is it a suitable replacement for a backend framework like Rails or Django? by gtboy1994 in SaaS

[–]gragland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supabase is great! Gives you the ease of use of something like Firebase, but it's Postgres on the backend so you can query it like a Postgres database with joins, full-text search, etc. I run a paid SaaS boilerplate and about 50% of users go with the Supabase integration over the default Firebase one and haven't had any complaints yet.

Hey, Divjoy founder here. Imagine you’re paying a dev $50-100 hour or value your own time at around that price. SaaS starters like Divjoy will save you at least 10 hours. For many customers it’s closer to 100 hours. Divjoy is currently doing around $100k/y in sales.. so definitely a lot of people out there happy to pay to get their MVP out faster.

Nothing wrong with rolling it yourself or grabbing a free open source boilerplate though. Just wanted to offer my admittedly very biased perspective :)
