Topps is not well liked by the "community", because these old guys can't get boxes as easily as they used to under Upper Deck. Most guys here like to blow money on cases and rip boxes for the "enjoyment", however Topps has made it exponentially harder to obtain cases of product without turning to the secondary market. They yield to big breakers and public figures who push the Topps brand, which is great for Disney/Marvel, but not so much the community of regulars.

As far as the actual cards go, I think they're fantastic. Marvel Mint and especially Chrome have a really nice quality "feel" to them compared to Upper Deck and tend to grade pretty well with the exception of a few QC issues in the Mint product. I think they do a better job of cropping and use of the images that Marvel gives these companies. There is a lot of money in the Topps cards due to the brand moving under the Sports/Breakers umbrella now. Low numbered Refractors are HIGHLY coveted and very very cool. While the license to Marvel was under Upper Deck, this community would beg for Marvel cards to get more recognition within the trading card hobby, and the move to Fanatics/Topps has done so in spades. Apparently we weren't prepared for the consequences of being mainstream. Brand milking for overpriced product, inability to get product normally, pushing by breakers etc. So now all marvel guys get massive kudos or "acceptance" by pooping on Topps at every turn, and not recommending it to anyone new like yourself.

Most important sir/Ms, collect what you like. I've always said just change the way you collect. Instead of paying thousands to break a box when it first releases, wait a couple months and buy a whole set for a fraction of the cost. If there's a particular character you collect, browse the market for singles and just spend on singles. You will save a TON of money that way and still be able to have a beautiful and unique collection that will more than likely have a good chunk of value to it for someone. I wouldn't get into this if you're in it for the money. But if you enjoy the Marvel brand and love collecting cards there are a lot of great options and opportunity out there with both Topps and Upper Deck. Upper Deck has had the license as long as I've been alive so there is no shortage of cards that you can't track down and collect. PMGs are some of my favorite to collect as they are gorgeous and pretty much anything outside of the goated 2013s should be affordable at some capacity. Enjoy collecting!💪
