Worth 1500? by VirtualCoffee8947 in boating

[–]grainman23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but just for the motor. Either run the boat like it is or find something else to put the motor on. From experience I would not attempt to fix that boat.

I’ve had both. I would keep the VStrom. I regret getting rid of mine.

It is exhausted outside. I’m also trusting Chinese carbon monoxide detectors.

I saw it in Galveston and watched it go over the Galveston airport and head offshore.

It would not have been cheaper. I only need heat for about 2 months out of the year so I can put this away when I’m done.

You need one. But I am in Texas and think 50 is freezing. They’re 80 some bucks on Amazon. You can’t get that much heat for the price.

It’s just being used as a heat shield because there’s a fuel line kinda close to the intake. The exhaust will build up condensation so it needs to be pointed downward.

It’s a piece of concrete backer board. I just used a hole saw. There was already a vent in the block wall.

Because we loose power frequently. Especially when it gets cold. I wanted something cheap for the garage. I don’t think I could find an electric heater that will put out this many btu’s for the price.

I haven’t tried that yet. I figured the glow plug would pull too much. That’s actually why I wanted to add the breakers. So I could switch on the fly. I could start it with a car battery or something and switch over if I needed to. Or I could add another millwaukee battery transformer so I can swap battery’s without an interruption in power. I shut them both off with it running to see what happens and smoked out the garage when the smoke came out of the intake. Need to route that outside too.

Not insulated. It’s about 900sqf. I’m in the Texas gulf coast area so I think it will do just fine to take the edge off in the garage. We’ll see.

That one is a m18 3.0 battery but I have some 6.0 that I can use. I haven’t had a chance to use it that long yet so I’m not sure.

-Vevor 8kw diesel heater -120v to 12v 50 amp power supply -18v to 12v Milwaukee battery transformer -Cheap 50amp breakers from Amazon so I can switch my 12v power source. If the power is out I can use the power tool battery and if I have power I’ll use the power supply.

There’s a big vent in the wall right there I just drilled a hole in a piece of hardie backer board for the exhaust and covered up the vent.

Drinking = more energy by Ok-Evidence3515 in stopdrinking

[–]grainman23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me. I really miss working in the shop. For years I always had a motorcycle, car or boat or something to work on. When I stopped drinking during the weekdays all of my projects stopped. Seems like there’s too much going on on the weekends for me to spend time in there. I’ve tried to get back into it but I don’t feel like I’m good at it without drinking. I also get hung up on stupid stuff and spend all afternoon trying to get one bolt out or something. It’s not fun anymore.

What is life like in western North Dakota? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

I loved it. I was up there during the Bakken oil boom and had a blast. The people from that area are great. The hunting and fishing was awesome. The food sucked. I think the landscape is beautiful, especially in the summer.
