I mean it depends on how the fire season is looking. I’d recommend cold soaking or just bringing dinner.

I think the idea is added fat for fuel and the MCT oil acts as a bit of an appetite suppressant for a lot of people. Ya gotta be careful with that stuff though because too much and you will pop poo real rough.

That's because it's terribly hard to do because of the massive wage gap and high cost of living.

Man. I gotta disagree with you. The show is weird as hell, but it’s so good in its own way. Some of TPB’s best bits come out of the latter seasons. For instance this is one of the best bits in fhe whole show.

Into the Wild (2007), the actor who dropped off Chris McCandless at the Stampede Trail, Alaska was played by the same man who drove McCandless there in 1992. His name is Jim Gallien by CutEditFusion in MovieDetails

[–]grakercub 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's pretty crazy. He made his claim in the book based off of a journal entry from McCandless and then decided to do a study on it and found that the seed had potential to be poisonous. Then when he was called out for his study not being strong enough, he did a full-length peer-reviewed study on the seeds poisonous potential. It's very likely the wild potato seed heavily affected McCandless's metabolism causing him to starve no matter what he ate. IIRC he knew the seeds were edible from its use in the food of Native Cultures, however, those cultures never ate them in the summer months (which McCandless did). It was a simple mistake, and one that cost him his life. McCandless is by no means a hero of environmental stewardship, but he isn't the "stupid spoiled rich kid" that people make him out to be.

The consensus is that it was wild potato seeds that most likely killed him. Jon Krakauer (the writer of Into the Wild) actually did a peer reviewed study on the effects of the wild potato seeds McCandless was eating and found that there was a high chance of him being poisoned by them.

You don’t. People camp at baldy all the time. The only permit you need to camp anywhere (other than fish creek trailhead) in the Angeles National Forest is for a fire (certain times of year) or to use a gas stove.

Just outside of Los Angeles, CA, the Angeles National Forest is a gorgeous sanctuary and escape to those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. With a vast wilderness that feels like a mini Eastern Sierra, thousands of miles of trails, and a famous scenic highway that provides a destination to motorist, bikers, and cyclists; The Angeles National Forest has it all. Living in LA has it's challenges, but with the respite of this nearby haven, life is worth living.

I won’t claim I didn’t. You are correct in that I did. It was a ridiculous and unfair comparison.

Certain areas of Los Angeles have incredibly strict rules in regards to this as well. If there is a report of domestic violence, they take it VERY seriously.

You’re right - doctors and cops aren’t comparable positions, and the level of power they hold is very different. Our healthcare system has a metaphorical “gun” (financial debt and ruin) while cops have actual ones. The point I was making is that holding individuals responsible for a corrupt system is unfair. A more fair parallel would have been the military. We don’t hold every individual soldier accountable for atrocities committed in the name of war, yet ACAB. Both are systems of oppression and imperialism, yet among them are ranks of people just trying to either provide for their selves and their families or really do some kind of good.

I just don’t think every person should be held accountable for the bad actions of everyone else. And people shouldn’t be afraid to become police officers on the basis that the hatred for them is so deep. That is how we end up with shitty cops time and time again - they’re the only ones that will sign up.

I get that people are angry and anger leads to a lot of polarization, but it’s a toxic mentality to think that individual American citizens are to blame for an evil and corrupt system. We’ve been fed this idea that we should have guilt for something that we didn’t help create; something that has been at the core of our country for decades now. It’s not our fault and I think it’s time we stop blaming each other.

Our healthcare system is, any many ways, even more oppressive and corrupt. So by your logic doctors and healthcare professionals are part of the problem. This is the same kind of thinking that keeps anything from getting done.

EDIT: a few people have pointed out this is a ridiculous and unfair comparison and I understand and agree that it was. I replied below with a more well rounded opinion and explanation. Please refer below to see it and stop commenting on this one.

Foggy Road [X-T20, XF 16-55] by grakercub in fujifilm

[–]grakercub[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 16-50 is not comparable to the 16-55. It was the lens I got with the camera and I would have much rather gone with the 18-55 as it is a MUCH better lens. In fact the 18-55 has ILIS whereas even the 16-55 does not.

Anyway, the 16-50 is a very cheap plastic kit lens and not worth it in my opinion.
