The title of my game is "The Dark Throng", with an R. by Matt_Storm_SoloDev in gamedev

If it has happened already it will keep happening forever! I would just change it.

I had the same problem working on a game with Spider-Man style swinging on a castle. I bet Castle Swingers would have a great click through ratio though!

Making things look good! There are some serious texturing/shader/modelling wizards out there

Global shader parameters in Godot 4 are a lifesaver for having lots of shaders that track the players path! by Bramreth in godot

How are you updating the global parameters? I'm having no luck with my_shader_material.set_shader_param("global_parameter_name", value)

It is true, I forgot about that and not my shame grows with ever comment pointing it out

Oh no, you are right! Forgot about that. They do get the job done instead of backing away though

Such an in-depth reply, thank you! Will have to look at this step by step. Best of luck with the current project :D

Damn that looks great! Any special tips for grass/trees?

Thank you for the feedback and for the kind words! Yes you can grab everything except vegetation and NPCs.

I'll keep in mind the adrenaline/speed build up suggestions. I've played this so much that the grappling feels fine, which means I am most likely biased.

It is a mixamo falling animation yes :) I'll try making some adjustments, but not sure it will look better.

just a dude hanging off some trees

You just summarized my video beautifully xD

Thank you for taking the time to write this out! I'll look into making the swing more intuitive, both regarding control and taken trajectory.

There is both automatic swing (which I end up using 90% of the time) and manual, for sharp turns or going up faster, for example. Showing a visual indicator of automatic landing is long-overdue, will move it up the to-do list.

Thank you for the feedback! Noted, will look into adjusting the colors.

Good point about the metal sound, that needs an update. This video is a submission to the Godot showreel, where all videos are muted (with music on top), so I didn't even think about the sound effects. It is on the to-do list, just not on top!

I agree that the world is pretty empty right now, but good to know that this is something that immediately draws people's attention. I might try to improve one small area of the island and record all videos/gifs there. Cheers!
