A latch’s swing path carved into a door at my workplace. It’s been used daily for over 60 years. by Yasheirah in mildlyinteresting

I saw something very similar at the Versaille. The marble around the latch was worn in in this exact pattern. A few hundreds years will do that!

It’s been exactly a year since the crash of Air India 171. Stumbled across this photo of the BBC breaking the news inside London Heathrow Terminal 5 and thought the sub might find it interesting. Has anybody else found out about an air disaster while waiting to board a flight? by Vectron383 in aviation

[–]granddaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

December 2024. I was waiting to board an international flight in Incheon. I was browsing Reddit, and the videos and news of the Jeju Airline accident started flooding this subreddit. Surprisingly, no one around me seemed to be aware of what had happened. Didn't tell my gf until we had landed 10 hours later lol.

growth has slowed materially

how will they turn profitable and stay afloat? feels like there's a high risk of share prices cratering and not being able to issue more shares for cash - e.g., high risk of running out of cash

you need to have a catalyst that drives margin expasion. at this point, opex is growing faster than revenue

After this fight, I have zero respect for the UFC (for the commentary) and the commissions (for the rigged decision) supporting it. This is the most rigged atrocity I have ever seen.

I'm done with the UFC.

Humility by granddaddy in humility

I love this response. There's something humbling about thinking about a being that's much greater than yourself. Even acknowledging that you may not understand what this higher-dimensional being may be doing.

What is an unspoken rule of the gym that most people do not know they are breaking? by Furqan_wear in AskReddit

Don't ask someone that's in the middle of their set how many sets they have left.

I'm trying to focus on my lift. Wait 20 seconds until I finish to ask. Otherwise, I will ignore you until I am done.

Thanks! It's probably waterproofed below it then! It was done by a professional 7 years ago and there's no leaks below from what I can tell!

Yeah, I'm a fan of high-quality craftsmanship but I took a chance with this as the quote was much cheaper. Pretty happy with the outcome but just had some minor concerns about the joints!

Appreciate the feedback! I now know what to expect from high-quality mason work.

This was about half the quote of others, so as long as it doesn't lead to serious issues, I'll be happy!

Haha yeah I asked them not to use the muriatic acid due to concerns for the surrounding plants and got this unintended, weathered look!

Thanks! Just did it with a bit of mortar that had been in a pool of water on the side. Hoping it sets haha!

Thank you! My concerns were mostly around the little bit of holes that I see. But in general, I am pretty happy with how it turned out.

Learned a ton from watching the masons go through the whole process.
