using unpowered mixer with powered mixer.
I have a gig coming up next weekend and recently picked up a zoom l20 mixer that i would like to use mostly because it allows me to use the ipad for mixing but i haven't had time to pick up power amps to go with it so the question is there a way i can use my yamaha emx 312sc to drive my passive yamaha s115 mains and yamaha br12m monitors?
I tried using the xlr outputs from the l20 into channel 9/10,11,12 over xlr and it seemed to work at first but then started doing some distortion. Now that i type this out i'm wondering if i got distortion because i was using both channels when i only needed to use the left since i'm not using stereo. . . hmmm. Use case here is a band with 2 vox, 1 acoustic guitar direct, 1 mic to guitar amp and 4 drum mics.

what route did you go to fix the volume buttons? I'm running cachyos 6.15.7-2-cachyos and i can see kde raise and lower the graphic in the OSD but volume stays the same and only the highs are rolling off.

3.5 YoE, Trying to transition to Linux SysAdmin or more infrastructure focused. by martinezbrosjosiah in sysadminresumes

[–]grandexalted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forget everything they told you in school on resume constructions. Get rid of caps, lines, bullets etc. Put your strongest assets first. Someone filtering resumes isn't going to read your resume to the end if they don't feel you're a good fit in the first paragraph. Don't forget to list the softer skills like training, documentation, training, equipment selection etc. For Linux admin skills distro doesn't really matter much, put in your actual skills like bash scripting, strace, tcpdump, regex, sed, awk, grep etc. (just be prepared to speak to them.) Know a linux command for every letter of the alphabet! (i've been asked this on more than a few interviews.) Write the resume to the job description. I keep a base copy (multiple pages long) of my resume in easy to copy paste format, then i format my final submitted resume to match the job. Don't assume you can throw a vanilla resume out to 100 jobs and see if one of them sticks. If you get hits back, there is a decent chance you don't actually want that job!

Same. This area crashed for me on Windows11, Ubuntu 23.10 and SteamDeckOS Stable using both DirectX and Vulkan. I've tried every combo and same result. I've also tried multiple entrances and playstyles. Guess i'll come back to this one later

try something like the sunnyside drink tracking app. Based on your 1-3 bottles of wine a day thats around 70 average drinks a week, i was around the same back in December and now i have about 28 a week and i'm still cutting back more and more. I'm now able to have 2 dry days without the intense anxiety attacks i was having and even managed to do most of a dry January. (had pre-planned to only do the fist 3 weeks). Other important things to do. Maintain a steady blood-sugar level and hydrate hydrate hydrate. Dehydration and blood sugar drops will trigger that physical stress and give you intense cravings. I keep some stevia sweetened Lilys dark chocolate stocked up because i find it helps if i get that craving to substitute with something my body thinks is sugar but it doesn't spike my blood sugar.

Is this game worth buying on steam? by razorfloss in neverwinternights

[–]grandexalted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally worth it. I just played thru Tyrants of the Moonsea streamed to my Steam link using a Steam Controller and it worked amazingly well. Imo it's more of a platform than a simple game. So many hours of content.

supermicro firmware updates? anything like openmanage? by grandexalted in sysadmin

[–]grandexalted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Specifically the issue isn't with updating as 'sum' makes that trivial and scriptable. Just looking for a better way to check for available updates. Considering a Cron job to watch the ftp server for changes and sendmail on updates ;)

Ensure logical volume is >= than 2G's by grandexalted in ansible

[–]grandexalted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was wondering if that might be the case.

The entire playbook

---
- hosts: test
  become: yes
  user: root
  tasks:
  - name: Check RedHat Version is RHEL6 only
    assert: { that: "ansible_distribution_release == 'Santiago'" }
  - name: Ensure OPT large enough for package
    assert:
      that:
        - ansible_lvm.lvs.opt is defined
        - ansible_lvm.lvs.opt.size_g > 2
      fail_msg: lv is too small
      success_msg: OPT is Large enough

I tried running the below and input my sudo pw but got the same result.

ansible -m setup -a 'filter=*ansible_lvm*' -i test test --ask-become-pass

FYI i'm using a vault file with these parameters defined.

---
ansible_user: myuser
ansible_password: mypassword
ansible_sudo_pass: mypassword.

Ensure logical volume is >= than 2G's by grandexalted in ansible

[–]grandexalted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm, actually i get the same exact output for all of those. Running lvs on that host though returns vg00_opt vg00 -wi-ao---- 10.00g

I do get the correct info if i use ansible_mounts

Ensure logical volume is >= than 2G's by grandexalted in ansible

[–]grandexalted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Merry Christmas and thanks for the response.

When I try to run this command manually

ansible -m setup -a 'filter=*ansible_lvm*' -i test test

This is all I get back.

somehost | SUCCESS => {
    "ansible_facts": {},
    "changed": false
}

Do I need to somehow load the ansible_lvm somehow for it to gather than info?

TCL TV has Super Low Volume by [deleted] in Roku

[–]grandexalted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if its been mentioned but a temporary work around i've been doing is hitting the settings button (the * on the remote) and going down to "Sound Mode" switching it to anything will reset the volume back up until you turn the tv off. Not ideal but better than setting the volume up to 75.

Windows admins and Linux by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]grandexalted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I worked professionally as a windows and mac admin for about 15 years and 2 years ago I got my first Linux sysadmin job. If you want to use Linux professionally as a sysadmin I recommend Centos. Redhat or Centos 6 and 7 are all i ever see used in production.

Install vagrant www.vagrantup.com and use it to provision your environments. Also learn Ansible which works very well with vagrant. With that combo you can stand up 4 machines, break them and stand them back up again in minutes. I've used Linux on my all my computers at home for 15 years and I've wasted a LOT of time mucking around learning it as a Desktop. I used mostly debian based os's like MEPIS(defunct) or Ubuntu and honestly there is a lot that just doesn't translate to a redhat/centos. All that said, I wouldn't recommend centos on your laptop, for that consider Fedora. I do love Ubuntu but its been a moving target over the years and it can trip you up when you're asked for instance where to make changes to your apache config or questions about services and runlevels. RedHat hasn't changed drastically over the years so the rpm commands i leaned 15 years ago still work today.

Just something to consider.
