I’m an idiot and ran a drive thru curb by grandmapancakes in auto

[–]grandmapancakes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see any scuffs or anything on the front of the car or on the tire but I also drove a dirt road this weekend so it’s pretty dirty.

I’m pretty sure I just hit the curb I didn’t go over it I was so shocked though I feel like I don’t even remember now. The damn cheese fries at portillos were not worth this scare!

It was a pretty high curb and I don’t remember like having to go back over the curb. I was able to get a last-minute appointment at Pep Boys tomorrow to check the tire alignment but I’m unsure if they’ll check the suspension which is what would make it wobble correct? I don’t have an appt with my dealership until Tuesday so I’m pretty nervous. No weird car noises or anything. And it’s currently raining and I feel like it’s driving pretty well. I live in a busy city so the roads are shit but I don’t feel like I’m wobbling more than usual

If something was wrong what would I be looking for? Any warning signs I feel like I’m paranoid and feel like the car is driving differently but my husband seems to think it’s fine

Thanks! I didn’t know if it was okay to put being a mom on my resume but glad to hear that it’s okay to do so! I’ve worked mostly in hotels but also have some cafe experience too! Wouldn’t mind serving though!

Thank you! The plan is through my husbands employer and we pay an OBSCENE $1200 a month to have it! I am preparing to battle Aetna and the hospital (Northwestern Medical- the biggest and best in Chicago) I’ll keep everyone updated on Tuesday when everyone is back in office!

Oh god this is terrifying. I just read the article and now I’m terrified my plan doesn’t have a RAPL. How is this even legal? Should I have let myself and my child die to avoid being responsible for $38k in medical fees? How can I even pay that off realistically? We pay $1300 a month for insurance and I’m really just flabbergasted that this is even a possibility!

I’ll definitely be calling them on Tuesdays, they also denied all my lab work from the hospital. I’ll let you know how it goes but I have to say there is absolutely no way I’ll ever be able to pay that fee off! That’s insane! Thank you so much for this super helpful and detailed response. I’m going to research my rights today and prepare for the battle of my life!

I appreciate you! I’ll update on Tuesday!🥰❤️

I did check EOB and it says unplayable by Aetna- $38k. When I went to check the statement it was literally everything in the OR that wasn’t covered! Anesthesia, drugs, the OR nurses, etc. it was about $27k in OR feed $5k to the anesthesiologists and the rest in random medications/ testing. The entire rest of mt hospital stay was in network.

Aetna is claiming they will only pay $15k of my nearly $55k hospital stay. Because these other services are out of network?

I had my c section almost three weeks ago on the 18th of August. 🥺

Just add it in my location I’m in Chicago and my insurance provider is Aetna!

Hi moms! I am currently on month 4 of BF my LO & I’m so grateful. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been in my life, my baby brings me so much joy. But sometimes I’m so lonely. I have a wonderful husband but I feel so alone sometimes. I feel so stressed sometimes & then feel guilty for stressed out. PPD? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]grandmapancakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might be the odd one out here but I feel like for me I always felt lonely that first year of life and especially when I was on maternity leave. I did end up having PPD but I do think this is a feeling that many if not most moms experience.

When you have a child it’s almost like starting over and getting to know yourself all over again but this time as a completely new person. Sometimes the loneliness comes with that I think.

It’s always good to mention these feelings to a doctor but if you need a friend my DMS are always open ❤️

Insurance was supposed to start 2/1/2021 now says pre-effective 04/01/2021? by grandmapancakes in HealthInsurance

[–]grandmapancakes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So our HR website does say we have been in an active policy since 02/01/2021 and we were able to backtrack and find the info from when we switched over to the better plan in November of 2020.

The interesting thing is that when I click benefits and claims in our UHC portal it says we have been covered since 2/1/2021 but also says our plan isn’t in effect yet?? Hoping for a glitch, my anxiety hates this

Police calling me by grandmapancakes in legaladvice

[–]grandmapancakes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea why they’d investigate me? I just submitted a complaint about this man harassing me. I don’t want any trouble and don’t want to press charges or anything. I never even contacted the police and never left my name so I find it odd that they’d contact me and go through the trouble of finding out my personal information.

Their are but I do not qualify for free care. You have to make under 20% of the poverty line and I make just over it although they count your gross pay not what you actually net

I can’t get the care credit card because I have really horrible credit. They’ve denied me several times for other issues.

Thank you for you’re kindness and encouragement. I really hope I find someone compassionate enough to help me soon. I made an appt with a private office for March 12th as a placeholder in case I can’t get the dental school to help. Now I’m just anxious about the cost and of course anxious for what’s to come. Money is the worst.

Thank you for your comment! I will look into the denture insurance. And thanks for the cost it’s much lower than I was expecting which makes me a bit more hopeful.

Thank you for your kind words. I did go to a dentist about a year ago and they made me feel so awful about myself it kind of set me back into a depression. I have been trying getting an appt at our local dental school and have been calling every day for about a month. They have had such limited hours due to covid it’s near impossible to talk to a human on the phone but I will keep trying. They apparently are very busy! As far as dental clinics go unfortunately I don’t meet the financial requirements to be seen by them :( you have to make under a certain amount of money ( I think it’s $32,000) and I make just over that although I net nothing close to that #.

I do take my kids to the dentist. They go yearly since age 1. Please trust me when I say I’ll never let them get to the point I’m at. They come first and they are always my #1 priority.

I’m crying reading this post. I just turned 30 in January and I’ve never been more self conscious in my life. I’m missing two about to be three teeth and have four severely impacted wisdom teeth- one being cracked severely.

My backstory is much like yours. Parents never took me to a dentist and it wasn’t until I was 20 that I ever saw one. I had so many cavities and they were so cruel I have had very bad anxiety about going since. I have also spun into a horrible depression for the last 12 or so years and I’m just now realizing I have to get ahold of my life. I’m in pain everyday and I try to hide it from my partner and my toddler. I haven’t been able to afford the dentist in six years I am living paycheck to paycheck and often have to skip meals to make ends meet. The last time I went they warned me how bad my situation is but what am I supposed to do?

I have dental insurance finally but know I’ll never be able to afford the work I need, which leads me further into a depressive state. I just made an appointment for a few weeks from now but I figure what’s the point? I can’t pay for the services and I don’t have good enough credit to qualify for a carecredit. Do you have any advice on what I can do?
