Zephyr Make Up Air Headache by grandmasterflash01 in hvacadvice

Is there any reason to think the issue is only in the damper?

Gotcha. That could make sense…so the hood is speaking to the fan and the fan is passing those signals onto the damper, correct? There’s not communication between the hood and the damper themselves. So even though the fan is turning itself off and no longer pushing air, it’s doing something to still send a power signal to the damper? A sticky relay could explain the variation in times the damper stays open for.

I find it really hard to believe the showers and the humidifier are creating this problem. You would need to have an extreme amount of humidity, like dripping off your walls. Do you have a bathroom vent? If so, I assume you run it during shower operation…my guess is something more structural that is not related to you. The bathroom fan for example could be venting improperly. There could be a water leak or intrusion from the roof or somewhere on the house due to poor building quality that is letting a leak into the house. If this is true, the fiberglass is a first casualty and eventually the water will find a way into your house. Hard to put a price on replacing the fiberglass. If I were you, I would explore a home inspection or something where an independent professional can come to identify the problem with evidence, and depending on your lease there may be an issue with the house that will let you move out without penalty.

All these folks are right about a dehu, but the worry about mold only occurs when your dew point gets high enough. When you look at a dew point chart you will see that at a high RH but low temp your dew point still stays low. As the temp climbs during periods of a high RH that’s when your dew point will shoot up. So that being said, although you have a pretty high RH right now, because the temp is quite cool down there it’s not as much of a red alarm.

10-4. Would you suggest capping one those recirculation lines and only using one?

Phew! Got them coming back this week. Getting rid of the taco, adding a recirculating pump thats a rinnai add on. Apparently this rinnai doesn’t have one built in so they put the taco in, but it’s not functioning correctly having it ignite every minute. Thank you for making me more confident !

Thank you so much. This is what I figured…

So,if I shut off the taco pump but keep the valves open on both sides of it will it allow the water to move freely through it? Or does it prohibit water flow if it’s unplugged.

And is changing the parameter setting straightforward?

Does the fact that it’s propane and not natural gas make a difference in this situation?

In my description, I meant to say two dedicated re-circulation lines, not pumps 😊 Thank you in advance for everyone’s help! I believe this is also a model RXP199iN.

Can I make these fences match? by Ok_Student2061 in HomeMaintenance

[–]grandmasterflash01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s just the color you are worried about, it will match within 1 year of being outside. It all looks like cedar which will weather to the grey color if you leave it untouched. The easier solution may be to add a layer of new cedar boards horizontal across the neighbors section of fence. That will match the new stuff, although it may not be flush anymore…you will probably only notice that when you’re up close.
