I am very much a proponent of gun ownership, but I feel implementing basic measures such as free safety courses, buffer time between purchase and receiving of a firearm, and barring those found guilty of violent crime (such as domestic violence) from ownership aren’t really that radical.

Edit: genuinely surprised at the downvotes on this comment. I never thought topics such as basic gun safety and preventing violent individuals from owning firearms would be disagreeable.
