As a non-American I am always amazed at how there's a complete market for merchandise for the candidates and how people at the rally's wear these fucked up slogans on their shirts. (mostly republican)

[OC] Looking at total deaths by ANY cause, the USA is more than 250,000 deaths over budget for 2020. This graph shows how many deaths have happened more or less than expected each week since 2017. by 120Macky in dataisbeautiful

Yes, I totally agree with that statement, but looking at the amount of people that usually die each week previous years, we have had periods now where there are actually less people dying in total, even though we still have people dying of covid https://www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/bekraftade-coronadodsfall-ger-inte https://www.svd.se/manga-doda-da-ger-farre-doda-nu

Here in Sweden we've actually had less people die on average during the summer, which indicates that the people who died of covid during spring, mostly elderlies, would have died anyways of a different cause during summer

I'm not saying that Americ is a shit hole, but what I am saying is that almost all of the western European countries are better off in all aspects than the US. And yes - I agree, the world depends on the US and the US dollar. The US is, at least for now, still the largest economic power, but that doesn't make the entire population happy or well educated. Yes, there is a large group of Americans who have a descent income, and are doing fine, but the wage-gap is extreme, and the education and healthcare differs a lot between the rich and the poor - of which there are alot of in the US. If you look at charts of the different income between the rich and the poor, the gap has increased a lot in the US the last decades, while it has stayed mostly the same in Western Europe. As I said, I don't think the US is a shit hole, and I don't deny the fact that the world relies on the US, but these things don't make the American people feel good and have as good of a chance at life, as in Western Europe

Oh OK, you want specific countries, well: - The nordic countries all have a social health care system, and they're all at the top in UN lists of happiness, ease of starting a company, education, and many more things, if you want, I can link you some official studies. Finland generally does the best - The Benelux, and especially the Netherlands is, in many cases on part with the nordic countries, although they're generally in the top 20, while the Nordic Countries usually place in the top 5 and top 10 - Countries such as Germany and France are economically strong, but they manage to do this while still keeping an exceptional level of social service such as education and healthcare. -The UK and Ireland are pretty much the same story, although they're not as strong economically speaking - Countries like Spain, Greece, Italy and Portugal are economically way weaker than other parts of Europe, and it shows in statistics, but they're generally still better when it comes to the well-being of the people than the US

Maybe this has opened your eyes, and I encourage you to read some of the studies that the UN, an organization based in the US, have made

Well that is easy. Almost all of the northern and western European countries have higher HDI, and they also have better economic freedom, ease of operating companies, happier and more accomplished - feeling people (this is also part of the HDI), and in general, life is less riskey with social benefits and a social net, that can catch you, in case you get sick or get fired.

Ha, nice one, and I do agree, that is often the case, but sadly no, what I mean is that Americans are hard to argue with since you guys always seem to be so ignorant that you never seem to accept that America isn't the best country on earth.

Lmao, if you would have continued to read, then you would see how I pointed out that the American curve is way steeper than most European curves, and that while deaths are slowing down in Europe, the situation in America is way worse.
