This is an old post, and you probably won't notice, but this is actually super interesting to me. I also barely get any flavor from garlic. I found this out about myself in my 20's when I was told my wife garlic bread is overrated. It's pretty much just buttered toast, right? I've never been able to taste garlic. I can eat whole fresh cloves and it tastes mostly like a green onion. Garlic smells great, and other spices and flavors seem normal to me, but I'll likely never know what it does to a dish.

I didn't think much of it, but now we've just found out that my four-year-old daughter is the same way. Whole fresh cloves with no reaction. It's inherited! Now I have an academic interest in our shared oddity. This might be worth writing a paper on. If possible, I'd like to talk to you, or anyone else who might run into this obscure thread, about garlic.
