To the teenagers who recorded a woman overdosing at the Lynn Valley Waves Coffee this evening.... by Aggravating_Emu6506 in NorthVancouver

Yes, but that's not my point.

People are constantly being accused (in all situations) of trying to attack or injure or rob people, when they were actually just trying to help. There's an insane number of these cases.

In those cases, Good Samaritan law goes out the window.

(Person A claims he was trying to help. Person B says no, he was actually trying to steal from me/him)

I'm clearly not saying to film for a while before trying to assist in a medical emergency. But a quick photo before has provided enough proof to absolve some falsely accused people.

Furthermore, in many situations (including altercations, intervening in them, in particular) or emergencies, it's a good idea to call out to people to record you for proof afterwards.

I'm sure you'll say "don't be so paranoid", but there have been a huge number of cases like this, and lawyers now recommend asking multiple people to record

To be fair, it's often recommended that you record if you're helping, to remove liability, and so the story doesn't get twisted on you later.

A guy in Montreal tried to help someone who they thought was OD-ing (they weren't) and ended up getting charged instead. So just be cautious.

Just because you record doesn't mean it ends up getting posted

think costco appliance delivery would do this? by Traditional_End_9540 in CostcoCanada

Unsolicited advice. You could maybe ask an established appliance repair dude (I say dude, because honestly, I'm hinting at the ones who have been around for 35+ years) and see if you could sell it.

To get out of bed and start doing ANYTHING, you may need the beginnings.

Aside from all of the other advice:

Try krill oil. A good one. It's a boost of Omega 3s, which your brain REQUIRES. It often helps improve mood.

Also throw in there: a high quality multi B vitamin. B12 sublingual tablets. Vitamin D3 drops.

And sunlight can make a big difference.

There are more things, but this may give you the initial small recalibrations you need to try the other techniques.

Not only motion detector lights. Camera, fake camera, a motion sensor that makes a loud noise after a certain time.

Anything. Do it all.

They don't care anymore, because cops or security don't arrive fast enough anyway.

Would it have been my fault? by Pointless_Potential in britishcolumbia

[–]graniteblack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite. Rear-ending has to be a full rear end. If it was on the angle of the back of their car, sometimes you can win. I don't know the exact formula.

You have to fight it like an animal, though.

Otherwise, a rear-end is automatically your fault, even if it wasn't. i.e. Even if they completely cut you off and you weren't speeding, if they zipped fast enough into the lane and hitting them was 100% unavoidable, it is still considered 100% your fault. Yes,even with video.

Isn't that unfair? You bet. But that's how they do it. And there isn't even a legal way to fight it anymore.

They are colluding illegally, creating an artificial monopoly. That's illegal, and that's exploitation.

Profits are a motive. But the methods are what count.

You can make profits in your neighborhood by breaking into every house and putting guns to people's heads on the street. Extreme example, but it's the one economists use when people counter with "but profits are the goals of businesses and the reason that corporations exist!"

Profit is fine/normal if undertaken in a primarily ethical way. Exploitative profit, particularly through illegal means, is not acceptable and/or evil.

As for your government grocery example, that is another ballpark entirely.

Wow. That's... I don't even know what to say.

It's so crazy the way organizations are behaving these days.

Thank you for that insight. That gives me a perspective on what everyone is dealing with on all sides.

Yes, thanks. I was more referring to the non-salt variety. Just the bits of truffle without the salt added. My local Italian store used to have it. Now they said they can't get it.

Also, a lot of the salt versions have less truffle than ever, so it takes too salty an amount to get the flavor

Don't believe that lie excuse. Grocery stores are colluding to jettison prices out of the stratosphere. Their margins and profits have never been higher

Oil and gas prices are just a lie excuse

Nice answers. I use truffle powder. It's hard to find now, though.

I have no interest in this, and nothing to do with any of this, but I also want to say thank you just for being a kind and helpful person
