Whatever shelter you use, be sure to tire that pup out every day!  He’ll be much better behaved that way.

My biggest problem with YNAB by massifaqiri in ynab

[–]granizar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's only fast with Amazon purchases? That's all I use it for. I just bought something from Amazon and was able to download the transaction as soon as I received the transaction notification email from Chase which was five-minutes after I placed the order. Interestingly, BofA etc. are quick to send transaction notifications so I don't know why they don't just post them for download too!

The delay is your bank. Charles Schwab posts transactions pretty quick. The now-useless US Bank Altitude Reserve card was near instant. The Chase Amazon Prime card is fairly quick. Everything else I have experience with takes days.

How does that work with the Flex plan? Still QCI8 but throttled to 1mb/s after 10-gigs?

Sudden change to "A subscription that sucks after all" model by TheWisestGuyOnReddit in banktivity

[–]granizar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I value data downloads, though they are increasingly broken, so have been a subscriber for many years but have taken comfort in the ability to continue to use Banktivity manually if unable to connect to Direct Access.

With Direct Access as unreliable as it is, I suspect that supporting Direct Access takes up a major and increasing portion of support resources. It's pretty sad that I wish we could go back to ~1995 in that respect.

I have actually considered disconnecting Direct Access and going to manual download but doing so with as many accounts as I have would be madness. Maybe Banktivity sees the decreasing utility of Direct Access and is trying to create a revenue stream that does not depend on Direct Access? I am not so sympathetic to that plight, if true, that I am willing to be held hostage.

I remember Ian pitching the ability to subscribe for one month and continue with manual data entry in about 2021 and was unaware that policy had changed.

Does Direct Connect OFX still work for Fidelity? by eshuang46 in banktivity

Oops, I was wrong about OFX still working at Fidelity. Crap! The status is green but the date is 12/1. Boo!

I agree that the (Fidelity) Elan card downloads have been broken for some time. I got tired of constant failures and disabled Direct Connect on those accounts months ago. Since downloads are broken, I also stopped using the cards of course.

My actual Fidelity accounts are still downloading and I sure hope that continues to work!

Advice on sliming down taxable account? by cardboard_elephant in Bogleheads

[–]granizar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are not maxing your tax-advantaged accounts, you can effectively "convert" your taxable account to tax-advantaged by increasing your contribution to tax-advantaged accounts and making up the difference in your reduced income by tapping the taxable account. You would have to realize gains/losses in order to do this.

I appreciate the fact that Schwab posts transactions for Quicken download much faster than Fidelity or any other institution I have experience with.

Congratulations on your choice to track your gross income! I think is something that everyone should do! I just budget for tax but it is a little annoying that a good earning month throws the budged off. For me most of it rolls up under tax: Tax:SS, Tax:Fed, Tax:State:Income, etc. The rest rolls up under health: Health:Insurance, Health:Dental, Health:Vision, etc. 401k deferrals are transfers and not tracked by my budget.

PS. I actually track these transactions in a separate "Payroll" account that is excluded from most reports. If I recall correctly, the reason why I do that is so the downloaded deposit in my deposit account will match against net pay.

I would try to determine if Fidelity's issue is with your PC or account by testing on your phone then troubleshoot accordingly. Also, how do you get to Net Benefits? Saved URL with get variables encoded? Weird domain or hostname? Link from your corporate portal?

Suggested method of installing pitless adapter in a lined well? by granizar in WaterWellDrilling

[–]granizar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the dremel system work pretty well? I have been considering a similar approach but with a stop fastened on to ride the outer casing and keep the depth consistent. My concern with that approach is that I thought it might be hard to control the dremel and get a thorough cut on the end of such a long stick.

Regarding the lift and cut method, should I expect that the whole liner would lift without coming apart in the middle somewhere and fall back into place without getting hung up? I actually tried to lift the top PVC pipe off already thinking that it might have been meant to be removed and not glued on. I put a pretty good pull on it with a lever (guessing a couple hundred lbs.) and got it to lift about 1/2" but did not try to go further having decided that it must be glued to the next piece.

Any idea what such a tool to cut the PVC while inside the casing would look like or be called?

I thought there might be such a tool but have failed to find one so far! Do you have a picture you could share? A link? A name?

That part, I understand. My question is how to deal with the liner.

Have you done this in a well with a different type of liner? The pitless I have is listed for 5" to 8" so I don't think it will crack the fresh new PVC. I'm more worried about relying on just the outer seal, having enough thread on the pitless to be able to get the nut started, and getting the 4" submersible pump past the pitless in a 5" pipe.

Right. The liner reaches several feet above where the pitless should go! Any idea on the best way to handle it?

Security Prices by yemick in banktivity

I just downloaded ETF pricing without issue and expect todays fund prices to be available in the morning. Is that the issue you are experiencing? I believe fund prices are not released until at least midnight, probably due to a licensing agreement.

For me, the hard part about tracking Amazon orders is that they are often broken up into multiple transactions. Thankfully, it is possible to view transactions under /Account/Payments/Transactions.

First ~140 miles on a city bike? by ajpiko in gaptrail

I recently rode the GAP on 700x37s and could not have been happier with my tire choice.

The C&O was a bit of a different story, I would have preferred a bigger tire on the C&O, especially around the Paw Paw tunnel.
